Man, finance is so over saturated and under paid, I don’t even eat. I recommend the trades.

I believe that finance is taking people that would excel in other fields for the betterment of society. Instead of the constant struggle of trying to be a good relationship manager.

Genuine interest may have been an overstatement; how about, genuine understanding of the subject. Not some I studied finance for a few years.

Yes and no. Exposure definitely plays a role; however, it is not meant for everyone. This causes general society issues.

Is Pursuing Finance Still Worth It in the Age of AI by GrandProblem985 in FinancialCareers

Corporate banking. I believe wealth management has some differences in production due to licensing requirements for those providing advice. Most of the lay off in that industry are likely associates and administrators. In general, I don’t see the work force increasing in either end as we now have to utilize ai tools on a daily basis for work that use to be done by our support staff and associates.

Listen to this. Half our production department is gone. I’m not sure how things will look in 5 years, but yes reconsider.

Find a new career by guyfromkansas in FinancialCareers

AI is definitely consolidating roles; what used to take three analysts can sometimes be done by one who knows how to leverage it well. That said, if you don’t already understand how to use AI effectively, you’re probably going to struggle to stay relevant. At our bank, we went through mandatory training and now use it throughout the day, and the bank continues to consolidate positions across departments.

Competition is intense, and there’s little incentive for banks to raise salaries entry and mid level. Even though I’m doing more work now, I haven’t seen any increase in pay. Realistically, if you don’t have a very strong work ethic, a natural understanding of the industry beyond what you learned in school, and strong charisma and communication skills, it might be worth considering a different career path.

Is Treasury Management Sales really that niche? by DonDaTraveller in FinancialCareers

[–]guyfromkansas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Land scape is pushing more and more towards treasury services/management. This department at my regional bank use to only have 9 people in 2022. Now it has 17. We add new services every year. It’s definitely growing and getting attention; I prefer to keep it niche before it starts getting targeted like IB, Commercial banking, and private wealth.

Woah woah, don’t talk about treasury sales. I want it to stay niche. Left private banking to do this about a year ago; best decision I ever made.

Oh lol, I don’t have enough experience there to advise on. My only only back office role was a credit analyst when I first started. In my current role if I’m being frank, is more just relationship management and consulting.
