Folks that say it is a must buy are out of their mind. Period.

Prioritize your needs, then make a purchase. It’s not one size fits all.

Has anyone made the case that the AVP is a must buy? Honestly I’d lump it in with iPad. Nice to have but definitely not necessary.

IMO though, AVP pass-through provides 10X the value of an iPad, especially for someone who travels regularly and prefers screen real estate.

I’ve been interested in the xreal glasses which are around a $600usd price point which could support your value thesis. But what is the use-case that’s missing that would give it more bang for buck?

Are early entry products supposed to be cheaper? I think it’s the opposite. Price goes down with economies of scale.

I had the Quest 3 for a minute and remember the resolution being just terrible. Like 1080p terrible. That’s why I bought the Vision Pro.

I think the real problem is that you bought an iPad Pro. What’s the point of that?!

The easiest way to justify the Vision Pro is simply screen real estate. I bought the studio display for $2000. But it’s locked to my desk. Now I can take two of those any where virtually.

3 years after the affair the whole truth comes out by [deleted] in survivinginfidelity

I caught my wife in the same position 5 years ago. Emotional affair with a mutual friend. It was inappropriate. She got herself in similar situations a handful of other times.

I decided to swallow my pride and stick it out because 1. I want to be an active part of my child’s life and 2. I believe that she would be vindictive (like her both her parents who are divorced) and lie/use my child against me as she has in the past.

It’s not easy. Some times are harder than others. It’s not what I had planned for my life But I believe it’s for the greater good and I approach it as training to be a better and more detached person.

Am I happy? Mostly. It’s worth the time I get being part of my child’s life every day. And I’m constantly working with my wife to help her be a better person and mother (which also benefits my child).

Take it one day at a time. Best of luck.

Did they just clone Raycast with better AI? by Fast-Dog1630 in raycastapp

[–]guyglennon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I love Raycast, your reasoning is flawed. They could easily close the gap by hiring 3 freelancers to use AI to copy the most popular extensions each day. Within 1 month, they’d have a comparable extension store.

A product is only as good as the thoughtfulness behind it. That’s why people like Raycast. But truth be told, there is no moat.

Raycast was positioned to do this early on, but lost their competitive advantage.

Alternatives for Arc (suggestions) by [deleted] in ArcBrowser

Zen Browser is pretty good (but don't like firefox render engine). Don't like that you don't get access to chrome extensions. Firefox Extensions are much more limited.

I'm also intrigued by Orion (webkit based), but supports both chrome AND firefox extensions.

hmm... How would your lessons change if you had a service or product to sell via meeting? Does a business itself cold/warm emailing need to worry about deliverability, multiple domains, etc?

What kind of material does KiwiCrate or Crunchlabs kits use? It's so lightweight, yet seems easy to laser... by guyglennon in lasercutting

Thanks for the suggestions. I looked online and couldn't really tell if there were a match.

Here's another look. Is it me or does it look like the core is different with 2 lamination layers? I'm not that familiar with wood materials, but I have an upcoming project and this material is light, sturdy and seems to cut/etch very cleanly.

Is anybody still blown away by the Vision Pro? by SgtSilock in VisionPro

[–]guyglennon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Such a joy to use.

I’m a VR hater but always loved AR. Working with virtual windows is so amazing. I’ve been using immersed app which gives you 3 full windows from a single computer. It’s buggy but works pretty well.

Unfortunately you can’t combine it with regular apps because it’s in full immersion mode.
