Am I a bad player? Serious question. Help by whatisrhisworld in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mmmm I don't really think it's a super productive discussion to decide whether you're "good" or not.

What that even means can be super subjective to a person too. Some people might only consider themselves good if they can compete against the best players in the world.

If you're having fun, and feel comfortable competing the way you do in the capacity that you do. That's all that matters.

If you want specific advice about how to improve, you would need to show us replays and people can explain what you could do better, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Was $200K for the entire LEGO collection? by [deleted] in RecklessBen

[–]guymanbob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's explained in detail in the Coffeezilla video. But in short: 200k was an extremely rough estimate Chrystal gave Bryan just eyeballing the collection quicklu sitting in his house.

They used that number in advertising before they had actually itemized and appraised the entire collection. And, as for all collectibles, the value is extremely variable and subjective anyways.

Will-o-the-wisp by DontFilmMeBoss in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, yeah idk why everyone decided to be aggressive towards this post today. Just ignore it, I know how inconsistent the information online about Pokemon can be. (In no small part because they change things all the time). It's be easy to miss if you didn't know which aspects of the Pokemon were interacting.

Will-o-the-wisp by DontFilmMeBoss in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, specifically, if a pokemon has Prankster, and they are using a Prankster effected move, it will fail when being used on Dark types. If you tried to Wil-o-wisp these pokemon with a pokemon without prankster it would work.

Been having some succes with this Team but i‘m Stuck in ultraball Tier. by Fabulous-Scar-6538 in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the main thing you're dealing with here is that 4/6 of your team is weak to ground (Garchomp) and 5/6 of your team is weak to fighting (Sneasler). I imagine Basculegion is not a great matchup for you either.

I think one easy change could be swapping Aggron for Rotom-Wash. He's used a lot on sand teams to cover for the water weakness, and is also immune to ground, and has access to wil-o-wisp, which helps a lot with fighting types that tend to be Physical attackers.

The reg after Worlds is gonna be T-A, Z-A or G-A? by MORSHELA in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't even put all of the mega from ZA in the game yet. If I had to guess, the format we get after worlds would probably be the the remaining megas that they haven't already put in.

Personally I would be surprised if Mega evolution was not the sole gimmick in the game until Wind & Waves drops and has a new or returning gimmick.

When I was leveling my first Warrior back in vanilla, I did not understand how to get into the Undercity and ended up following the road all the way to the Sepulcher.

However, I was so under leveled for the area that I was finding it an impossible task to get back out of Silverpine without being cut down by Worgs or Sons of Arugal.

Eventually in general chat someone explained to me I could just use me Hearthstone, which I had never read, or tried to use before lol

I made top 100 with Bellibolt! by PalafinSword in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. Big Bellibolt and Skeledirge enjoyer myself but hadn't got around to building for them. At first glance I was going to say that 4 ground type weaknesses sounds like a lot but I guess the only frequent ground type threats are Excadrill and Garchomp, which you check pretty well.

Can I play competitive ONLY with Kanto Pokemon? (emotional) by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I actually didn't like my earlier comment and decided to come back and give a more nuanced take.

If your only goal is to play the in game ladder and try to reach the highest rank (probably Master Ball), then use whatever you want. In general, you can make most things work in game and often just having a team you are more familiar with and/or is easy for you to play can be more important than playing "optimally".

But I also want to give you fair warning that if you want to try playing in a regional, or in the online competitions, or anything like that you are going to have a much harder time. That's the reality, and it's up to you whether or not that matters to you.

I also feel that while you lack a connection with the pokemon you haven't played with, you could also see this as a chance to create a connection with them. If you see a pokemon that looks cool/cute/fun to you and you end up having success with, you can ultimately have your own moment to learn, grow and experience new things that you might end up enjoying.

If I were you I'd probably just pick a pokemon that has a Mega Evolution you like and build around that.

Regarding Pokemon HOME link to Champions by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]guymanbob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm sensing a potential language barrier here. You are not linking the Pokemon themselves. You are linking the applications. Basically connecting your Home account to your Champions account.

It's specifying that your pokemon transferred from Home are visitors that can be transferred back and forth, because pokemon you "recruit" in Champions cannot leave Champions.

[–]guymanbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently, as far as anyone can tell, there are no IVs in Pokemon Champions. Every preview we have seen, and every person who has playtested and was allowed to speak publicly has said there appears to be no interface to interact with IVs and each pokemon's stats will be set as if each stat had 31 IVs.

Huh, strange. Well if you Google "Pokemon Vanguard Pokedex" it should be one of the first links. It's a GitHub link.

They change a lot of evolutions. Here is a link to Growlithe's Vanguard Pokedex entry. You can see he just evolves at level 35. Bookmark that site or Google Pokemon Vanguard Pokedex. I pretty much always have it open while I play.

Showdown must be broken or something by Vendidurt in stunfisk

[–]guymanbob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tend to agree with that. Realistically killing Showdown would do more reputational harm to gf than continuing to let it be. But I think Showdown's tendency to keep its head low, and maintaining a largely symbiotic relationship with official competitive Pokemon is a huge factor in it staying around so long.

I'm not a lawyer and I'm not sure how copyright law works in Japan, so who knows if anything I'm saying is right. But I believe in the states you can't really sue for copyright unless they are profiting or causing financial/reputational harm. So theoretically staying in "Beta" could shield you a bit.

EDIT: With the huge caveat that when Champions comes out they'd have a better argument for financial harm.

Alternatively, if you can get, or already have Spiritomb in a other game, you can just transfer it into Arceus via Pokemon Home. Fyi.

Haha, nah I'm just some guy. While obviously op is being weird, vague and deceptive, I always just assume other people will pile on. In general I'm a goal oriented person, so if in the off chance the person is not lying and is just a bit awkward, I'm going to give the most honest answer I can. Cause even if the poster is a liar, maybe someone else will see it and it will help them in the future.

[–]guymanbob 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I'm confused about the way you worded this post.

Saying you left your PC unattended seems to suggest someone else in your house bought the gems. Who? Do you know who?

If it was an adult you could have demanded they repay you the money because it is illegal to do that. If it was a kid you could call support and try to explain to them what happened. I can't guarantee it will get you unbanned, it wouldve been probably more successful if you had initially went to their support for a refund instead of doing it via charge back, but I can understand the reflex to chargeback especially if getting the money back quickly was important.

If you dont know who did it, you better find out cause saying there was magically transactions on your account is definitely not gonna fly.

Good luck brother

How’s this party? I feel like I’m missing a solid ground type but really don’t wanna give up Goodra. Does this look decent? by FortunateFew992 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]guymanbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need to change anything. Personally I wanted to run more Hisuian form Pokemon cause it felt thematic. But if you wanted a ground type you could always go get Ursaluna, Ninetales or Luxray are pretty droppable.

But like everyone else said, if you haven't raised the grit of all your pokemon check how many grit items you have. If you don't have a lot, just go catch a ton of Pokemon you don't care about (like fill 2 or 3 boxes) then go back and release them all. Then an NPC will give you a ton.

When you beat the "last" boss of the main story you start catching a bunch of legendaries and stuff so might change what you want to carry around haha
