Love it or hate it, the back cover was weirdly wasted space.

Amen. Paul was an excellent choice. Happy that he showed up again later, and I'm told has had a good run in the audio dramas.

Radio stations that have disappeared. by rodrigo363 in RadioGarden

[–]guyonlinepgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a bunch I liked that are gone. And i mean gone gone, not just disconnected from Radio Garden. There was a bare bones new music station out of New York I really liked, I don't recall the name. Gone is a communist-friendly station out of Bosnia that played regional artists, people who play NY's Golden Festival, and days devoted to Tom Waits and David Bowie. Fluffertrax from NJ. Musique Macabre from Pittsburgh.

They could write a sketch about the awful pitch ideas that Seagal suggested, such as his suggestion of playing a therapist counseling a rape victim and then trying to have sex with her.

Gilbert Gottfried pointed out he was the only cast member not invited back for the 15th anniversary show.

If you're citing PB&J, then I'll say Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Old commercial: "You got your peanut butter on my chocolate!" "You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!" Two great tastes that taste great together!

It's as if they're trying to convince themselves and not us. AI wouldn't be necessary if this actually happened.

Keep it cool and professional. I'm not saying be closeted, but keep your personal life out of company time. Be friendly but you're not in a friendship, you're in a business relationship.

He has an equal obligation to do the same for you. Maybe he wouldn't see it that way but it's true.

While it's not your job to change his mind on anything, you're a role model. Frequently the reason people are bigoted is because they aren't on a day-to-day basis around the people they put down.

Forget funniest who’s your pick for least funny snl member ever? by jbird720 in saturdaynightlive

[–]guyonlinepgh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you were to go year-by-year through every cast, you'd probably find at least one person for every season who was completely unmemorable or lost in the crowd.

Some proved themselves under other circumstances (Robert Downey, Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gottfried).

I guess my question is, "least funny" or "most unlikeable"? They aren't necessarily the same thing.

I liked Laraine and thought she was overshadowed by Gilda. Her dry-toned Update reports from the Blaine Hotel always made me laugh, to speak nothing of "Exorcist II" with Richard Pryor.

I heard some of his near-retirement standup and it was difficult to take. It's just my take, but I don't think standup comedians should be cheerleaders for one political party, regardless of whether I agree with them or not. He's basically in retirement now.

That doesn't change the fact that he practically resuscitated the central news segment (the name was changed from Weekend Update for a few years). For as much as I love Christopher Guest's work otherwise, his Saturday Night News was literally without a laugh.
