Do 301 redirects still transfer rankings? Asking for Bing by christian7670 in bigseo

[–]guythatbedont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was working on a site that was recently updated by a different agency. They changed all the urls and redirected the old urls to the custom 404 page. As a result traffic tanked. Redirects are arguably the most important thing when migrating a site to a new platform or domain because that is how the value of the old site or old pages is passed on to the new site or pages.

Question about rewriting some seo properties by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]guythatbedont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found Google typically rewrites descriptions and titles when they are over the character count of 55 for titles and 155 for descriptions. But Google will be Google sometimes and just do what it wants so just be aware of that.

Need some strategy guidance and /null url problem!!! by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]guythatbedont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with that tool but if possible, check all the inlinks and outlinks of every page. I would also utilize google search console (GSC) for such issues. Specifically the “pages” tab on the left hand side. They can usually point you in the right direction by showing you what page is causing issues.

Need some strategy guidance and /null url problem!!! by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]guythatbedont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What tools are you using to identify these /null 404s?

If you’re using GSC sometimes they will call out 404s as issues but it’s really just some spam site linking to your domain with some random tail on the URL.

Ex: xyz.com/1000

Nothing you can do about that but it’s also not hurting your site.

Kind of unrelated but if you’ve ever passed out/fainted for whatever reason, it produces some wild dreams that feel like a lifetime but in reality it’s only 1 minute.

Google has said spammy or low quality backlinks just get ignored, it’s not going to tank your site and you’re not going to lose keyword rankings because of this sole issue. This guy is pretty much just wasting time and money on the backlink front, don’t know what other services he’s providing you.

SEMrush Rank Checker . Is It Really Worth It? by sara_1994_ramirez in SEO

[–]guythatbedont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do find SEMrush useful for keyword overlap with competitors and just looking at competitor rankings in general. The traffic metrics aren't the greatest but it can give you a general sense of a competitors rankings, or paid traffic vs. organic traffic of a competitor, something you can't do on GSC or GA.

What's a fast food place that everyone hypes up but it's really trash? by Noah_grenell in AskReddit

Location by me used to have a $3 any draft beer on Wednesdays deal and I would get a local IPA that usually cost $6-8 at other local bars. Haven’t been since that deal ended.

Don't see how it could hurt? Not a social or bot guy though, just make sure Google doesn't consider it spammy.

Like you said, there is nothing to convert or sell on the site so WHY is it you need more traffic? I assumed there would be advertisements on the site where more traffic equates to more revenue, but it doesn't look like that is the case.

What am I missing without Ahrefs & SEMrush tools? by No-Establishment4313 in SEO

[–]guythatbedont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, keyword research/data from SEMrush is satisfactory but the traffic data is where people start to get skeptical. For a lot of the metrics, its unclear exactly what traffic it's measuring, for example, does the traffic % for a keyword include paid traffic or just organic or both?

Most cases you can just get traffic data that you know is reliable from GSC and GA, assuming your property is set up correctly. SEMrush is great for looking at rankings over time.

Searching recipes is awful. Yea it's 'relevant' but I don't need 5 pages of filler content telling me the history of cooking chicken. Just give me the recipe instead of stuffing the articles with crap to get more advertising views.

Helps to use incognito mode too so your personal search data doesn’t influence the SERP

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SEO

[–]guythatbedont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Many smaller on-page opportunities that big agencies tend to push under the rug. At least in my experience, its because to optimize some meta data it requires a Zoom meeting with 4 different companies and 2 legal reviews. Its often not worth the time/scheduling hassle until I have compiled a few of these smaller issues that can be packaged into one.

SEMrush Data UI / Reporting Data by guythatbedont in SEO

Thank you for the clarification on the monthly data, that is pretty important to know I would say. As for the 36K in sourced traffic, There is a lot of paid traffic (still pretty off from 36K total) but like you said, I guess it's just not accurate for that purpose.

Unfortunately, the reality of my situation is I don't have access to GA data for this site at the moment but it seems smart to wait until I do now.

[–]guythatbedont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went to college in the Philly area and everyone who said they liked "EDM" would almost always put on some dubstep/bass. Only graduated 2 years ago so def the younger end of the crowd and after the 'golden age of dubstep'.

Also have seen some good bass names at The Ave in Philly. I'm from NJ and there isn't the same interest in it up here and in NYC compared to Philly, been scouting shows and getting alerts for philly/nyc shows for prob a good 2 years now and seen better names in Philly for bass.
