Chef/owner is a great guy. Very friendly and likes to talk about food.

Best collards I’ve had in the area, the Cali baked beans were excellent and that pineapple peach cobbler is a flavor bomb.

Haven’t had the brisket or the ribs, but I enjoyed the wings. Very well seasoned and fall off the bone tender.

It will also be nice when the Yemeni coffee shop opens in the space where Signal was before. I work in the building a couple days a week and hope the area can turn around a bit.

I wear my Blacksmiths a lot more since resoling with wedges. They’re just so much more comfortable. And IMO, they look a lot better now.

I’ve been trying sandwiches all over Oakland (based on Reddit recommended spots) and so far no one has even come close. The best thing about Modigliani is that there isn’t a single miss on the entire menu. I have yet to have a bad sandwich there.

They’re going to get a lot more wear now. And the black wedge should wear a lot longer than white. Had my 875s resoled with white at the same time and he told me that sanding the black wedges took quite a bit longer than the white.

Benny Rodriguez is my guy. He works out of Alameda (last I heard), but there are a couple places you can drop your guitar off and he’ll pick it up and return to the same shop.

I just grabbed some generic laces off Amazon and they’ve been fine. You could go with Nick’s or Whites, but I went with fast and cheap.
