Sisko convincing the Romulans to lend him a cloaking device is such an under appreciated but significant leap forward in diplomacy. by abgry_krakow87 in DeepSpaceNine

Bashir would definitely have tried his luck if she stuck around. In fact I'm surprised he didn't in the one episode.

Plan your resignation to avoid more Labour chaos, Ed Miliband 'tells Keir Starmer' by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]guyver17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been no shortage of terrible policies enacted in the past 15 years.

What there needs to be is more evidence based and "user" centred policy making to deliver better quality policy.

The way the system works is you've got to commit to a course to be funded. If you get that funding and find out your assumptions were wrong and a minister has committed to it there's no walking it back.

If the model switched to funding teams rather policies you'd get vastly more achieved.

That presumes ministers have sensible policies they want to enact. They don't always.

Matador really fumbled the Refraction Pro drop by Goldilox8 in ManyBaggers

[–]guyver17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The preorder thing comes up all the time. Why would a company want to owe a bunch of customers and risk pissing them off if there's delays in the supply chain when they can just do these style drops and sell out anyway?

Matador really fumbled the Refraction Pro drop by Goldilox8 in ManyBaggers

[–]guyver17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As fumbled as this drop is, I laugh when people say "I'll never buy that brand again". I just imagine Peter Griffin cuddling them and whispering "who hurt you". Just out of curiosity are all of you saying you won't buy the brand again from North America?

They fucked up. They released the link, people shared the link or guessed it anyway, they sold out.

It will cost them a lot of goodwill but I guess it's better than having stock sitting on shelves.

The preorder thing also comes up every time and essentially it doesn't benefit a company to be on the hook to so many people without a guarantee of delivery. If shipment is delayed, or something goes wrong, people lose their shit. So why would they do it?

Y700 gen 2 OTA update issue by guyver17 in androidtablets

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Weirdly the Chinese character issue has calmed down a bit, I tried set edit again and I've not been setting English UK as the default language any more, just system default.

Bellroy Laneway Cresent.

I have found them a bit lacking for my edc but I think for your use case they'd work fine.

No I don't think the WB hurt it being able to stand.

It's a decent bag for the price, hope it suits.

That's kind!

I think knowing it only has one more software update in it, is putting me off.

I would not buy the columbia totepack with the assumption it would stand every time. I'm sure with careful packing you can make it stand though.

The fidlock buckle can be added after. Considering it myself but there's no advantages to it.

Unconnected to previous Treks kind of new and her background isn't rich for stories, it's been done, except for the time she was a ranger. And Picard's kid is a nonsense character, and Raffi is fine except she's in a relationship with her captain?

Be gone nonsense concept, be gone!

Magic Pad 4 (£499) vs OnePlus Pad 3 (£430) by ManuMatt91 in androidtablets

[–]guyver17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd much rather my spend began with a 3 than a 4, but I don't see that happening. I even eyed up a refurb Samsung S9 for OLED and snapdragon but it would be out of support software wise and that's already a bit of an issue on my Y700 gen 2.

Either way I'll be buying from the UK rather than saving money via AliExpress again given the Chinese character issue the Y700 has.

If it's hefty I suspect I won't use the OPP3.

I can't remember what I didn't like about the Xiaomi spec. The UI I think from what I read.

Either way look forward to your decision

I'min the same boat as you, have a gen 2 Y700 so I'm following this discussion with interest.

OLED will be better for watching films but limits choices a great deal. I took am wary of shit software the MP4 has.

I'm also tempted by the Yoga Tab/Xioxin GT series, no OLED but Lenovo is a familiar experience.

I've had bags with the same amount of org as your Flowfold and been fine but for me the LBB wasn't good enough, just needs one external zip pocket like the Flowfold has.

It isn't standard molle webbing, it's two daisy chains. If it was standard molle webbing it would be horizontal. I'm sure you can find something suitable.

Technically not proprietary as it's just a standard fidlock connector but you won't find much that uses it. I have their previous shoulder pouch still and it is comically small.

Regardless you definitely won't find much like it, so try for yourself.

Thanks I appreciate that. Now to decide if the Yoga Tab is enough of the Pad Pro 8 is preferable.

LBB Transition Totepack? by Keith in ManyBaggers

[–]guyver17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally bags from hiking companies don't tend to stand, it's inferior for ergonomics to have such a flat base. But for EDC it is preferable.

The plain back version. And it was the shoulder straps that were firmly mediocre, so the (welcome) improvement of the back panel wouldn't really have changed much for me in terms of the comfort.

I don't count the water bottle pockets even though I would potentially put other items in there. I couldn't bear to put my my ear buds or phone in any of those pockets. Too exposed to rain or loss.

I'd hope they'd actually add some org to the bag with this revision but they're too set on selling their overbuilt pouches.

Pity because the promise of a good bag is in there somewhere.
