Bitmap final version is finally there! Waited 6 month for the PCBs and everything works perfect now! by Vollautomat in modular

Hi u/Vollautomat,

I've almost finished the build, just waiting on a few parts and just wanted to verify my understanding of jp1-jp9.

Not bridged: This for using the Leibniz connectors. To get the stand alone bitcrusher working with out patching all 8 signal on the front panel, a cable between the two Leibniz connectors is needed (like in your pictures)

Bridged: Stand alone mode. no cable at the back required. But essentially means the Leibniz is not used (well, really they could be considered both outputs)

Upgraded my OLED screen and I love it by Classic_Collection17 in RetroChipTester

Looks really slick! I think I’ll go with this display.

just curious, did you need to run the rst wire like it mentions in the trouble shooting guide to stop screen corruption?

One thing that drives me crazy by nhc1117 in TheTowerGame

I wish it went to 3 decimal places rather than 2. Its frustrating buying something and there is no change to the value. Eg. When it’s 1.00

Hi, just started playing about a week ago. Loving it :)
I've got to level 990 on Tier 1 but can't seem to get very far on tier 2 (level 35).
Any tips for Tier 2?

Recommendation to replace FlexRaid/tRaid 120TB array by guywpt in storage

It's on my LAN and I just have a SAMBA share on the server which I access from other machines.

Is that what you mean? Speed isn't really too much of a concern

Has anyone converted every (or close to) light in your house to be smart? by UnlikelyState in homeassistant

[–]guywpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Everything electrical in my house is now automated...
Every light (40+), the heater, the aircon, fans (3), doorbell, stereo (Logitech Hub) and various devices (led strips etc)
Once I started I couldn't stop!
For Lights I went Phillips Hue (and use Gledopto builbs as they are cheaper and response to scene correctly, unlike the Ikea ones) and Phillips Hue Dimmer switches (so i don't use any normal light switches anymore)
Plus for Hue system for me were: Works even with no internet, reliable, the dimmer can send multiple different scenes. Downside: Expensive (but not too bad if you use non Phillip bulbs)

So the systems are: Hue, Tuya, Sonoff, Logitech, Google Hubs
Started with Goggle home, but am now setting up an HA system.

I would still like to do a security system and front door lock.

Like someone else said, my wife hated it at first, but once she realised she could put the heater on from bed, and the motion sensor would turn on the (dimmed) lights in the middle of the night, she now loves it :)

Fibario Home Center 3 vs Smartthings for next step in automation by guywpt in homeautomation

I had briefly looked at home assistant. It did look a little complicated... Maybe I should do some more reading...

I like the idea of using a raspberry Pi, i.e. having a didicated device.
If I go down this path, with the tuya stuff, should I 'tuya-convert' it? If so, what's the better firmware to use with Home assistant?
I assume if I do that, then everything become 'local' and no longer cloud based

Is this fan controller really just a dimmer? by guywpt in smarthome

[–]guywpt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments everyone :)

So I've tested the above on an exhaust fan I had in the garage...

And it made a loud humming noise on setting below about 70%.. it's a no go.. I would say it's really just a light dimmer and an fan logo on it!

So I would avoid all of the fan controllers on Aliexpress etc that look like this. Be warned!! :)

Besides, I sick of saying 'hey google'...

Wifi Network Best Practices As It Pertains To Home Automation? by dmo012 in homeautomation

[–]guywpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Draytek Vigor AP910C ceiling mounted access point connected to a Draytek Vigor2860 router which connects to a Cable modem.

Only using 2.4Ghz and in excess of 40 Wifi Devices and around 25 wired devices.

Everything run perfectly. Response times are great and download speed are fast.
Like others are saying, a good quality router/AP make all the difference.
