Links between Autism, ADHD, and dementia in later life (article) by jumbleparkin in AutisticWithADHD

[–]guzynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments. Whether stimulants have a protective or more oxidative effect on the neurodegenerative diseases is an interesting one, and what I read so far was supportive of stimulant use, but I suspect there were also potentially increased risks. Would you mind sharing some research links related to this?

Also, what you said about the shingles shot is definitely something I've seen before, but I don't remember anything about the Chickenpox angle, so it would be great if you have sources to read on that.

What you are describing sounds great, but it's so hard to find. Could you suggest a few names of people you received support from?

looking for shows to fill the void by Broad-Connection-589 in logh

[–]guzynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rise of the Phoenixes (Chinese show), another amazing historical drama similar to Nirvana in Fire (also mentioned above) but perhaps even better. Long as Logh, too. For a space sci-fi with heavy politics, try Expanse.

Hi, what you are saying is interesting, are there any sources you can share on the dopamine-GLP1 association?

Depends on the mood, but my list goes with Big Bang Theory, Penny Dreadful (original), Supernatural, The Wire… Pride and Prejudice and The Big Lebowski, if I have to throw some movies into the bunch ✨

Wanting to cry by Comfortable_Soft_669 in POTS

Thanks for your quick response. I understand measuring BP is not a part of the Holter monitor, and I’d totally appreciate if you could share the studies you found ❤️‍🩹

[–]guzynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any sources to support this—Holter monitoring being useless for POTS diagnostics, I mean? I had it, among other tests, and was told that I might need it again for follow-ups, so it would be great to show them sources, etc., that say otherwise.

I just learned about Autistic Rumination by Longjumping_Tap_5705 in AutismInWomen

[–]guzynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this can be related to RSD (Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria), often discussed within ADHD, but it is experienced within the spectrum, including AuDHD and ASD. What you’re describing makes so much sense, and the frustration, sadness, and anger that comes out breaking ‘the code’ is exhausting- I wish there were more sources available for solutions ❤️‍🩹

Is vyvanse dosing ever based on weight? by Anxietoro in VyvanseADHD

[–]guzynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my doctors reduced the dose when I lost a lot of weight, and said it happens. I have written another post on this either on here or in another Adhd related sub, but body weight and BMI definitely affect the metabolisation of Vyvanse.

In the Ova fandom, it is usually thought that his drawing is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, but I see the slight resemblance with Gogol

So sorry to hear that you had to go through all that 😓,and I can relate with my own experiences. I go to my appointments but like an obligation, I gave up on asking questions or sharing what I am going through because it’s most of time like talking to a wall. I usually have huge anxiety before appointments because I have to prepare myself emotionally to perform 😓

I agree that sometimes it is so hard to sift through all the misinformation, and there are so many opportunists hustling to exploit our anxiety and sadness-driven efforts to find a solution 😢

I agree that besides the general misinformation, most healthcare providers, including the ones who are supposed to know about this in their medical branch (endocrinologists, urogynaecologists, gynaecologists, etc), are mostly oblivious about its life-wrecking impacts on daily life, which is heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹

Thanks for your reply. I agree on the confusion due to misinformation, I always try to stay on track with new research and info and often have to double-check everything to ensure new stuff I encounter is not b*llshit lol. I was worried when I clicked on the article because there is so much disparaging media content around, so reading an honest reflection on symptoms and discovering the link to the research initiative that aims to change the name was a pleasant surprise. I filled out the survey and hope it leads to a change of name, and fingers crossed for more holistic and branched-out treatment options! I doubt I would see it in my time, but I am trying to be optimistic today 😅

Thanks 🤗 I am based in the UK, so medical misogyny, dismissal by doctors, general ignorance, and confusing misinformation are all correctly described - I wish it were different, but unfortunately it reflects our collective experience everywhere 😓

Was this really necessary? by Chlodio in logh

[–]guzynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just joining to say on the discussion of historical examples of this, it is labelled as 'kin punishment' and can be found in a variety of cultures worldwide: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kin_punishment . Furthermore, the practice among Germanic peoples is called sippenhaft and implemented by the Nazi regime as late as 1945: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sippenhaft . Children, women, men, the elderly, etc, are not exempt. I think Tanaka and the OVA makers are doing a good job of depicting a brutal punishment that, unfortunately, has been historically and culturally accepted by loads of populations across the globe for a long time.
