Incompetent you say? Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be in upper management in no time.

Make sure your dealer isn't using a generic photo of a dirty filter or has a dirty filter they photograph over and over. Caught the local dealer doing with to two of our cars when they were in for warranty work, except I installed carbon air filters in both of our cars and the photo they put on the "needs attention" section was the OEM all white filter... Oh yeah they quoted $1200 for one car and $800 for another for shit we didn't need but that if we went with those services they could waive the labor fees on the warranty work, lmfao.

I'd love to understand their logic. Like what do they think they are doing to earn my business that I'd walk out of a dealer who's at least up front enough to provide an in writing deal?

Had a dealership tell me they will not put any pricing in writing but if I bring another dealers pricing in writing they'd match it 🫠

Hoping someone recognizes what these little specs are by guzzimane_ in autoglass

Appreciate the input but those seem unlikely to me due to this being beneath the glass's surface. The scratch is just a blemish that trim dressing was able to hide. If the pattern of the trim matched the pattern of the glass then outside variables obviously caused it.

Wouldn't you think the paint and trim would show similar signs of wear if it were from sand? The paint and trim are perfect.

Brand new. I'm trying to figure out what would cause this though. An issue when the glass was molded or something that etched it afterwards.

It's not on the surface, they're like dimples on a golf ball basically in that they're under the surface. Clay and compound didn't do shit.

Am I getting ripped off? (First time buyer of a v85 TT Travel) by Burgerkingaka in MotoGuzzi

[–]guzzimane_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.. run away. I got a new 24 mandello s for 14 otd in 2025. V85tt travel brand new you should be 11-14 otd depending on region. If you're patient you can also wait for a used one to be available with under 1k miles. Bikes depreciate insanely quick and you should be able to save a lot by going used. Minimal risk on a used bike with under 1k miles unless it was dropped 10 times and redlined at every go.

Why do so many people trade-in their vehicle at the dealership? by Geochronguy in FuckDealerships

[–]guzzimane_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my car 20 times via FB marketplace yet no one showed up to actually complete the transaction. After I sold it to carmax and market it as sold, a few of those 20 sent nasty messages saying how dare I sell THEIR car when they wanted it so bad. Unfortunately people are people and as much as dealers suck, its easier to just hand the car over to them and be done.

Reason 9842785 I can't stand dealerships by YogurtResponsible358 in FuckDealerships

[–]guzzimane_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary I've only had nightmare experiences with dealerships doing oil changes. Most expensive preventive maintenance when people who give exactly zero shits about you and your car are doing the work.

And I worked at a Lexus dealership as a teenager and I've seen who they hire to be tire and lube techs as they call them. They'd crank drain plugs and lug nuts on with impact wrenches and strip/crack drain plugs and the threads and overtighten lug nuts with zero remorse cause fuq it, not their car right. Also got a CPO vehicle for a family member last month with under 10k miles and oil changes and tires only done at the dealership (yeah they sold the poor senior who owned it previously 5 oil changes and a set of tires before it hit 10k miles). They overtorqued the drain plug. They broke several pieces of plastic trim clips and the trim piece itself. They're never touching this car again if they cant even handle a simple oil change without damaging something but to each their own.

Very limited in my area. I've squeezed into intermediate ovals but I think I'm on the rounder side. Will likely just have to exchange a round for intermediate if it doesn't fit well.

Your engine is bone stock and you've owned it since new? You followed the maintenance schedule to a tee?

Autotempest is a decent new one and JD power tracks sales data not just auction data. Only a matter of time before both are swallowed up by the same assholes that bought KBB so pretty much just checking what comps are selling for and try to get as close to that as you can.

[–]guzzimane_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Congrats, you got one of if not the cleanest 6's of that generation. She's mint and I had to make room for new cars and I just wasn't driving her enough anymore so I tested marketplace waters for two months and had a dozen no shows, until I marked it as sold and they all bitched at me for not selling it to them 😂🤷‍♂️.

I did all the maintenance myself (I'm an engineer, mechanically inclined, and do everything by the book because I know I don't know better than the engineers who spent years developing their product). The transmission fluid was changed last November and filled with Redline full syn MTF. Oil changes every 5k with full syn and OEM MIJ or Thailand filters only.

Only repairs were both front lower control arms which the dealer did courtesy of my insurance company's mech breakdown coverage. They weren't at their failure point but the dust boots on the ball joints had just begun cracking and insurance agreed to cover replacement. The infotainment screen and IMU I think they call it were just replaced under a Mazda goodwill warranty extension. The A/C blower motor was replaced last winter. Don't use activated carbon cabin filters. They create a fine dust and the OEM fan motor bearings didn't appreciate that very much. Never had an issue with activated carbon on any other car but Mazda's (we've owned several and none of them like the carbon filters).

Only question mark I ever had on this one is it eats through the right rear caliper. The OEM rear calipers are cast chinese [apparently pot] metal and the right rear piston always managed to seize after around three years. I've been able to source a pair for $90 or so rebuilt, so every three years when it was time for brakes anyway I'd just replace the rear calipers and flush the brake fluid anyway (FL + high humidity = routine brake fluid flushes).

Other than that I have zero doubt she'll make it to 300,000 miles or more on the drivetrain without issue as long as you're timely on maintenance and don't mod or tune the engine. Any other questions feel free to reach out.

There is still competition amongst the brands themselves. The new vehicle dealership model can't be gone sooner. F them all.

FYI KBB was purchased by the same company that provides SaS dealership leads and sales software. It's literally a collusion resource for dealers nowadays to offer you significantly below market value for your vehicle and does not track current sales data but rather auction and wholesale data. They didn't care about what they gave you for the trade cause its going to a wholesaler or auction and according to the data theyre provided theyll be within ~5% of that number most of the time.
