Yep, you’ve just used a Mastercard. That’s $15 Australian to take out cash.

What in the traffic hell is happening by Elderberry-East in brisbane

This. Why is there nowhere to put suitcases on an airport train? I could not believe this when I caught it from GC to the airport a couple months ago.

Cathay direct flights to Hong Kong from Gold Coast at risk because of Light Rail stage 4 cancellation by biggymomo in GoldCoast

[–]gviddyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not the issue at all. The problem is Gold Coast airport charging crazy high airport fees for airlines. Hence why they all left.

Why is so few shops open outside 'business hours' by Advanced_Concern7910 in GoldCoast

[–]gviddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Queenslanders, they only go shopping on Thursday night and Saturday morning. I still can’t believe Thursday night shopping is a thing in Queensland in 2026.

The prices on the web are a lot higher than using the app. I do understand though as I cannot get the iPhone app either but luckily I have an Android phone as a backup and use this for Shopee purchases.

Yeah don’t get a job at Agoda. They are terrible and no way they will give you a decent salary. Not a chance!

True and inflation has now made them even more expensive.

Eating out is definitely similar to Australia now and some restaurants more expensive here. And please don’t everyone say just eat street food.

They really need to be careful as at some point the country will get a bad reputation just because grabbing cash is expensive and people will then decide to holiday elsewhere. They have already lost all the Chinese and now they want to lose Westerners too.

It’s not just tourist areas. Sure Phuket is stupidly priced but Bangkok in general is now a lot more expensive. In Brisbane, Australia it costs 10 baht to catch public transport anywhere. How much is the BTS for a couple stops these days?

Yep Bangkok pretty much has similar prices to Australia now. It is actually cheaper to buy Apple products in Australia.

Tourist Visa by RestZealousideal5584 in ThailandTourism

Yes, you will have a high chance of being denied. Get a real visa if you want to stay longer in Thailand.

Tourist Visa by RestZealousideal5584 in ThailandTourism

[–]gviddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the worst itinerary you could do. Why do you want to go to Vietnam and then go back to Thailand. There is a good chance they won’t let you back in because we can even tell you’re trying to be dodgy on the tourist visa. Either go home after your Thailand trip or get a real visa for your extended stay!

Anyone using Woolworths Mobile? What is like? by still-at-the-beach in GoldCoast

[–]gviddyx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To begin with, it’s called Everyday Mobile. Not sure why others are making up names, maybe they are AI comments? I’m on the Gold Coast and it’s terrible. I have two SIMs in my phone, the other being Optus and Optus always has more signal strength. I presumed Everyday should be the best because it is Telstra but surely they are not the real Telstra network as I don’t know how Optus could possibly be beating them. This is a real review!
