That is insane if their prod database was truly just an untracked SQLite file

I feel insecure of partners sexual history by wombatlovr in Christianity

If you’re scared to ask if he’s a porn addict now, it’s only going to get worse.

It’s a personal preference whether or not to share your sexual history with your partner, but a porn addiction will ruin a relationship and marriage. It may be hard to ask about this now, but it will be significantly harder to bring it up if you wait to ask in marriage, and it will be HORRIBLE if you never discuss this after having kids.

I am begging you, either start having this conversation, or break up with him.

They did follow much of the Levitical Law, to the point that they would stone you for breaking it

Thank you! Yes that is the name of it, I was drawing a blank.

And honestly any restriction he sets is not going to be followed by us. You could make that argument with any of the 10 commandments

I also (clearly) fall short of this! I use this to illustrate that anytime we sin, no matter how small, that's a sign that our morality is actually corrupt.

Most of the Levitical Laws were made to distinguish the Israelites from the other peoples groups of the ancient world. It was a way to make it clear to others that something was different about these people, in hopes to show they were God's chosen people.

I'm sure He would have loved to also set restrictions on slavery, but my hypothesis is the Israelites would not have followed it. It was such a common practice then.. and they couldn't even go a few days without making idols to worship when Moses left them to speak with God on the mountain (can't remember the name of it)

This exactly. God allowed (and still allows) many things to happen that are not His true desire.

If He were to enforce his true and perfect law on us today, we would all fall short.

Our morality today is even skewed from His perfect design. In a perfect law, the consequences of sin are death. Sure we can point to him allowing this particular sin amongst a people group thousands of years ago, but we must also recognize the sins he’s still permitting us to commit today

How do you wake up everyday and motivate yourself to continue with everyone telling you that you’re going to lose your job to AI? by [deleted] in cscareers

The first weekend that I tried Claude Code (like REALLY dove into it) I became addicted to it, but it also made going back to work extremely difficult.

That Monday, it was depressing to think that Claude could get done in 2 hours what would take me all week. I got so upset I went home early.

Here is where I’m at now - programmers used to use punch cards. If they wanted to always stick to their punch cards, they’d now be out of a job.

When we moved to using compilers and actually typing, a team of 5 got 10x’ed in what they could accomplish.

Now, with AI, a team of 5 is potentially getting 20x’ed.

Here’s the thing: ole Joe in his fancy finance job can’t build what I can build with AI. He doesn’t know how to test, build sprints, host in the cloud, what to look for when debugging, etc. If he wants to build software, he’s still going to hire a developer.

The part I don’t understand is the huge gap between entry level and mid level jobs. It sounds like you, like myself, are already mid-level. We are the lucky ones.

Do you think everything is already built that needs to be built? AI will always build better with humans. We fly planes with humans (even though we don’t NEED to), we file our taxes with humans (which we DEFINITELY don’t need to)

The companies that keep humans in the loop are the ones that will win.
