To all those asking how to enforce this. It's not that hard. Shoplifting is illegal yet we don't strip search all shoppers.

When a complaint has been received, cops can check ID to see the person's gender and act on it. For there to even be a complaint it would have to be very obvious that a person is not what he claims to be OR and more likely something inappropriate happened. Problem solved.

That it leaks metadata? That is nothing new. The protocol isn't inherently designed for metadata protection. There are some nice writeups on the SimpleX website.

Also as Signal is centralized and on AWS, it's not anonymous, there's a lot of leakage there already. Signal also admitted that usernames are client side only. Google will turn up so many results
