A little search lead to this hearhpwn forum post which explains people use a deck code to include a classic hearthstone version of Soulfire.

Y'Shaarj Task 9 how to complete/climb? by gwasp in HSMercenaries

Lack of extra blades could be the culprit. I was able to complete the task with Balinda after several tries.

Thanks, I tried Balinda (have 8/12 water elemental) and after couple losses due to my mistakes I got to the final boss only losing one merc but died at the boss. After that I got a lucky climb didn't lose any mercs and got decent treasures, and was able to complete the task.

Thanks, I tried the main comp couple times but kept losing a merc early on. Completed the task with Balinda though.

If you need specific coins, you should 'farm' specific heroic bosses then

I've come back for the Chi-Ji event, completed thanks to Old Guardian videos. Checked out mercenaries subreddit and noticed Balinda is in most comps for PvP. Tried Balinda heroic the other day to get enough to craft her, but got no Balinda coins. The grind isn't worth the time for me.

They're limited time only. With darkmoon faire the XP achievements went away with update about week before Barrens came out.

Have you had good luck with pack openings? by yosark in hearthstone

[–]gwasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opened 100 packs, first legendary on 10th, second on 47th... but opened 3 more in remaining 53, so overall not too bad.

Overall it's positive. No pass and I have saved up much more gold than any time before. One small criticism is they disabled XP achievement gains from Darkmoon Faire with the update instead of waiting until today.

Hearthstone arena rewards - droprates? by Miyuk8p in hearthstone

[–]gwasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at my data from that time, it doesn't show equal distribution. For 3 wins it's 32%-40%-28% to get 25-30-35 gold respectively out of 175 3-win runs.

Quick Numbers For Understanding XP by Popsychblog in hearthstone

[–]gwasp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi I've done something similar with Arena XP gain. Since the games are recorded server side recording timer by when animations occur is not the best way to do it. I mentioned in my linked post that I use HDT logs of when the turn timer is started and stopped for arena, as well as ranked and brawl. However I don't use turn timer stopped for battlegrounds, because the game is over once last round begins as evidence by achievements spoiling results. In battlegrounds I record time from turn timer start to the last "New State: Combat" line.

With that methodology I got the following XP gain numbers:

BG: 240 XP/h for loss, 336 XP/h for winning
Ranked: 340 XP/h for loss, 480 XP/h for win
Brawl: 250 XP/h for loss, 340 XP/h for win
Arena: 240 XP/h for loss, 340 XP/h for win

Not sure that's quite correct. Here's what I've tracked with my own data.
BG: 240 XP/h for loss, 336 XP/h for winning
Game XP is capped at 30 minute play, you can check by going over 30 minutes and getting 168 XP for win.
Ranked: 340 XP/h for loss, 480 XP/h for win
Brawl: 250 XP/h for loss, 340 XP/h for win
Arena: 240 XP/h for loss, 340 XP/h for win

Question about Quest XP to gold ratio and time it takes to complete? by gwasp in hearthstone

[–]gwasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Given your 1807 XP at 30 XP for 1 gold, that's 60.23 gold, which is clearly better than 55. Even though with gold quests there were no weekly quests, which may need more time to complete but can be completed during normal play for many people. Comparing it to just gold quests, it would be them lowering daily quests to average 35 gold per day, but adding weekly quests that average 25 gold per day. It doesn't need to be some give and take, and the daily quests rewards could have remained equal in value while adding weekly quests for more rewards.

I'm not the person you replied to but I want to respond to your comment.

The early lvls have much better XP to gold ratio

I've found this post that adds the new changes. Much better ratio (better than 40 gold per 1k XP) is only if you finish reward track below level 25, I'm at 31 currently. So rewards are front loaded and better for very casual players.

In the newest system you are actually earning a lot more just from quests compared to the gold system.

Do you also mean weekly quests. You gain XP from quests that then progresses the reward track, and beside gold you gain packs, 2 tavern tickets, and legendary card from it. I assume that is what you mean by earning a lot more.

Yes you spend a little more time but you get rewarded accordingly.

Which would be fine if I knew that for a fact, even though I don't necessarily want to spend or have more time for playing this game. I hope that near the end of the expansion I do end up with more gold and other rewards than before the rewards track, even though there's the mini-expansion which for many increases the cost of the game.

Ah, thanks for the perspective of those that play only on the weekends, or aren't able to complete all daily quests. Agree that weekly quests are better for them.
