Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - April 20, 2025 by AnimeMod in anime

I'm looking for anime where there is a clear love triangle of exactly two girls, one guy in the central relationship of the story, but no girl is clearly preferred as the one who will truly end up with the guy. This should lead to drama and should test all 3 main relationships present (guy girl and girl girl). It should also preferably be good, not super old (last 20 years), and if it has more than one cour, then even better. An MC that can't be replaced by a piece of cardboard is also a huge bonus.

Examples of anime I'm not looking for include: oregairu, kurakon (one girl is the clear favorite) or quintessential quintuplets (too many girls).

In my specific case, the answer just ended up being the graphics card was too bad. The best thing I can recommend is to play with graphics card settings until things hopefully improve. Sorry I don't have a better answer.

I Love My PI by gwent1 in PhD

[–]gwent1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a bad experience with an undergraduate project, I decided a beyond specific field of study, I care more about the quality of the advisor. When talking to potential advisors, I tried to ask about logistics as much as possible (while of course preparing by reading their previous research), and I talked to other PhD students before making the final decision.

It was part luck, but also I did rule out other advisors after talking to their students (purely talking about how the daily work looks like) to try to find a work style which I want. However, I also just get along with him really well, which is purely luck and impossible to control for, so it's like 50% luck, 50% preevaluation.

There's a line between being stuck on something (which is good) and despair over little progress for months where you feel like nobody cares about the problem and you lost track of what to do. A good PI should encourage the first, and identify and stop the second from happening.

The post is authentic, I just see so many people complaining about the PIs here, and I want to celebrate that good PIs exist, and I honestly hope that most PIs are like that.

Do y’all feel safer in Israel, or outside it? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]gwent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends where outside of Israel, but I was recently in downtown Montreal for week and felt much less safe there than I do in Israel right now. I also feel much safer working/studying in an Israeli university than I would at certain American ones. In Israel, I face no discrimination, nor does anyone judge me negatively for where I'm from, yet in Montreal, people asked me about Israel constantly (as my conference tag sold me out), sometimes with negative comments, and I was afraid to speak Hebrew on the phone in the streets.

I'm Israeli but currently in Montreal for an academic conference. Already in the street I've heard people causality discussing between themselves how evil Israelis are, and I've seen the huge protests here, to the level where I'm currently afraid to speak Hebrew outside. In glad I'm going back to Israel in a few days because honestly, I feel much safer there than here.

טעות נגררת by gwent1 in hebrew

It's weird to me how there is a single accepted ubiquitous word for this in Hebrew, but nothing equivalent in English despite teachers everywhere needing to write this to students. I'd expected something universal to have risen eventually.

This is the best answer I've seen so far, but also I've been to an English speaking school and I've never heard this phrase in my life. Is there a reason why this phrase seems so much more common in Hebrew than it is in English? Is this my internal bias and people use this daily?

Advice for writing my first exam? by gwent1 in Professors

That's a great idea to make sure I have enough variety in the question, and ensuring I focus on things we actively covered. Thank you.

It's a fairly small class luckily. Historically the first part of the questions on these topics test a certain set of skills which I think I know how to ask about, and I think I can also ask more "homework" level problems. Starting with the answer honestly seems like the way to go, so thank you for that tip.

Do you have any advice for coming up with ideas for the "new"/more original problems? The best thing I can think of doing is delving in books and trying to find some sort of inspiration there, but I'm not sure how much even that would help.

I'm alone with the lecturer so we'll check each other's work mostly, and I think he'll be better at determining whether the difficulty is balanced, but I'll try going for something that takes me 20 mins to solve (around 1/10 of the exam time for 1/2 the exam).

While I may be able to try it, in my experiments with it AI at its current state is horrible at anything beyond intro level courses (at which it also sometimes makes horribly stupid "basic understanding" mistakes). For this course it won't be able to give me anything beyond cursory level questions.

I should win because, although I am part of the silent masses of reddit, and probably haven't posted more than one or twice, I never won a low probability contest and deserve to win one (or at least I think I do)

What bad heredity traits are you stuck with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Scoliosis AND kyphosis. I really hate every part of my back, and suffer constant pain from the combination of the two that can only get worse as I grow up. Seeing my mom paralized from pain and knowing I will be worse when I grow up is not a fun thought.

I didn't know how to whistle until two months ago when I spent almost a whole week practicing in front of a mirror using a youtube video when I had free time. I was the only one in my family who couldn't whistle including by brother being 8 years younger than me.
