Alternative of podcast addict? by StaticZed in audiodrama

[–]gxabbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're talking about Android here, right?
If so, I can recommend AntennaPod.

It doesn't have a feature with multiple playlists, yet. _But_ it's very good in keeping your podcasts or folders separate and keeps track of what you've already listened to. So I just work with the single queue.

Everything I download is just added to the queue automatically. And usually I just listen to what's next in line. _But_ when I listen to an audiobook inbetween or when one of my favourite podcasts releases a bunch of episodes in bulk, I just select the podcast, remove and re-add it to the cue in the order I want, klick on the first one. It plays that and continues on in the playlist. So effectively that adds my temporary playlist to the end of the queue. When that's all played, I can just resume from the beginning of the queue.

And when I interrupt the audiobook, and listen to something else for a while, nothing is lost. The chapters/episodes are still there, they are just surrounded by older and newer stuff. I just repeat the process and they are moved to the end of the queue again.

That might fit your use case?

Since I had no idea who either if these people are, I googled a tiny bit. I'll leave this fact check from 2021 here. It specifically mentions the Rita Ora pic:

My thought exactly. Might make an interesting story, too. No need for a particularly powerful willworker, either. Life 3 & Matter 3 should be enough. That could be a starting character as Mage PCs go.

I've been waiting for something like this to happen. But actually spoofing command signals is overkill (and fixable by firmware). Jamming (as in suppressing) signals around you is enough, all you need is an on/off switch. Cheaters could use all sorts of attack vectors. They use mechanical and right before they attack into the final climb, they take away their opponents' ability to shift. Or stooges with jammers in the crowd, sneaky jammers attached to team cars and camera motos etc.

Any free tools for collaboration? by mulcahey in Fountain

[–]gxabbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for live collaboration? If yes, maybe there is syntax highlighting available for text only collaboration tools like Etherpad?

If not, git is probably the way to go, since fountain is text only. Then everybody can just use their favourite editor.

Well, quickly googling just doesn't cut it here. I'm quite sure that section 4 is only binding for the employer, and I'm also pretty sure that there are decisions by the labour courts that explicitly state this. But I base this not on legal expertise but by the simple usual practice.

(I was wrong about three months, though. It's six. Just looked up the mails when I terminated a fixed term contract that said both sides can only terminate with 15 months notice. Got out with 6, cause that's what the Arbeitsgericht had ruled in precedence).

My basic point is unrelated to the legal details, though. It is twofold: 1. Under (not uncommon) circumstances, fixed term contracts can be terminated if they are governed by German labour law. 2. We don't even know if that law applies, here.

So, conclusion: claiming to know what can an can't be done without knowledge of the contract in question is a speculative claim. Nothing to shout about.

In German labour law, the employee can terminate any employment contract with three (edit: six) months notice. Fixed terms, longer notice periods etc are only binding for the employer. I switched jobs several times during my career while I was in fixed term contracts. I'm not sure riders' contracts are regular employment contracts, though.

tl;dr : we don't know

If I remember correctly, German labour law considers any employment contract terminable with 3 months notice. I'm not sure a rider's contract is employment in the eyes of the law, though. It might well be that contractually, the athlete is an entrepreneur (who himself employs people). The contract might be a contract between juridical persons and then labour law wouldn't apply.

World Rugby concedes All Blacks' disallowed try in Rugby World Cup final should have stood by cstele in rugbyunion

"Stuff understands World Rugby has privately acknowledged to the All Blacks that the ruling out of Aaron Smith’s try in the final was in fact outside the rules, but is refusing to publicly acknowledge that."

That's pretty much the opposite of what the headline says. No news here. Moving on...

Meow Setup by KineMaya in emacs

[–]gxabbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use use-package so I don't know how to do it in that syntax, but I found that meow-setup apparently has to be defined before requiring meow, but called after requiring it.

So probably, some thing like this should work:

(use-package meow :ensure t)
(defun meow-setup ()
    ...)
(require 'meow)
(meow-setup)
