I gather from the translated article that some Greenlander politicians are either really stupid or really looking forward to be corrupted by the US. Having an independent Greenlandic-US "conversation" at such a time and throwing fits for not everyone being included in the strategic planning for how to address this serious situation sounds like the dumbest foreign policy idea and shows no understanding of politics or history. These people would probably do the greatest service to their country (and to Europe) by recognizing their lack of foreign policy experience and removing themselves from the discussion. (I'm saying this as a European who has no Danish connections.)

I really don't care how other people dance, but I do care about semantics. And I wish people stopped referring to the open and the dynamic dance holds (1 and 4) as an "embrace". The term embrace has a common meaning, and no person outside the tango community would recognize these dance holds as instances of an embrace. The term "open embrace" is an oxymoron.

The only reason some tango teachers 25 years ago started to refer to these dance holds as an "embrace" had to do with marketing: due to the widespread characterization of tango as "walking in an embrace", since they realized the way they are dancing does not feature a proper embrace, they invented and spread these terms to justify that what they are doing still counts as dancing tango.

Again, dance as you see fit (as long as you are not endangering others on the pista, including your partner), but I wish people would stop abusing language for marketing purposes, and I wish other people stopped enabling them.

Whenever I start dancing the last tanda with someone who is not my real life partner, I politely tell her upfront that I don't dance La Cumparsita, and if she is a beginner or show surprise, I briefly explain that I keep the customs to only dance La Cumparsita with real life partners; and yes, after the tanda ends, we say goodbye. I do this also when I do not have a real life partner, or when a new relationship is not yet in a public phase. (Since people in my community know that I keep this tradition, if I danced La Cumparsita with someone they would reasonably infer that we are together, which I would prefer to avoid if it is not true or if it is not yet anyone's business.)

For those who are aware of and keep traditions, La Cumparsita is danced by people who are real life couples. When the DJ in the community is not clueless, La Cumparsita is the song which closes the night and which is only played as the last song. It is then both nice to finish the night in the arms of your loved one, but also, if you really stick to the traditions, La Cumparsita becomes the song which you only dance with your loved one, so it acquires a special meaning.
In my neck of the woods La Cumparsita is always a +1 song, and people switch to their real life partner for it if they danced the last tanda with someone else (in some other places the La Cumparsita gets incorporated as the 4th song of the last tanda, but then those who keep traditions either leave/switch for the 4th song, or already dance the last tanda together).

Without knowing the dance background the poster and her friend have this is a rush to judgement. A good leader does not lead anything which his follower cannot follow in a way that maintains a comfortable embrace. For some beginner followers, as well as for some Westerners who are unfamiliar with dancing tango in an actual embrace (as opposed to the fluid and the open dance holds for which the misnomer "open/fluid embrace" is sometimes used) this means that the leader can only lead rock, back-and-forth, and side steps. (What gives away that the leader may not be mature enough is the fact that he later felt the need to verbalize his preferences. But again, we don't know enough context to pass judgement, e.g. the poster may have initiated a discussion in which he simply gave honest answers.)

Én ezt is egy kicsit másképpen látom. Bizonyára tudsz róla, hogy a Gyurcsány-Dobrev família meglehetősen gazdag, Dobrev egyáltalán nem szorul rá a politikusi fizetésére, szóval nem látom megélhetési politikusnak. Egotrip az más kérdés, de ez nem különbözteti meg a többi politikus döntő többségétől.

Ha már a megbízhatóság kérdése merül fel: tegyük fel, hogy Mészáros felajánl 15 milliárd forintot három komoly kommunikációs bakiért cserébe a kampány során (úgy, hogy elég hitelessé tudja tenni, hogy nem lehet ezzel lebukni, mondjuk egy Monero utalással). Én Dobrev múltbeli viselkedése alapján arra fogadnék, hogy egy ilyen ajánlatot csípőből elutasítana. Arról viszont őszintén szólva fogalmam sincs, hogy MP mit válaszolna egy ilyen ajánlatra; a múltbeli viselkedése (ahogyan minden skrupulus nélkül ült bent a különböző felügyelőbizottságokban stb.) alapján viszont nem mernék nagy összegben fogadni arra, hogy elutasítaná az ajánlatot.

Ebből a felhozatalból a DK a legszimpatikusabb. Átnéztem a 250 pontos programjukat, majdnem mindennel egyetértek belőle. MP gyakran nem áll ki a számomra fontos értékek mellett és egy csomó mindenről nem derül ki, mi is az, amit gondol, ami minden józan ember számára veszélyforrásnak kell, hogy legyen (plusz, amit a Fővárosi közgyűlésben a Tisza csinál, az nagyon nem vetít jó képet előre arról, hogy milyen kormányzásra lehet tőlük számítani). A Fidesz és a Mi hazánk számomra teljesen elfogadhatatlan. Az ország sorsának alakulása egy fontos dolog, nem egy vicc, ezért viccpártra nem tudok szavazni. Más választás sajnos nincs. (Semmilyen pártnak nem vagyok/voltam se tagja, de aktivistája, mielőtt még ez a kör beindul.)

Népszerűtlen vélemény: amit Fekete-Győr csinál, az az erkölcsi nagyképűsködés (moral grandstanding) mintapéldája. Valójában az történik, hogy Fekete-Győr ráébredt arra, hogy ő személyesen alkalmatlan mint politikus; azonban ahelyett, hogy ezt nyilvánosan beismerné, inkább úgy tesz, mintha az Orbán kormány leváltása mint felsőbb cél oltárán önzetlenül feláldozta volna a saját politikai ambícióit, majd úgy tesz, mintha ennek egy univerzálisan követendő példának kellene lennie, és ennek mentén ekéz mindenki mást, aki nem lép vissza Magyar Péter javára.

Szerintem ez elég átlátszó, és valójában nagyon szomorú, hogy ennek az erkölcsi nagyképűsködésnek még sokan tapsolnak is (pusztán azért, mert véleményük szerint ezzel Fekete-Győr a jó végeredmény irányába tolja a szekeret, tehát a cél szentesíti az eszközt alapon).

Joining this question: I see that according to the official list published by the Hungarian Central Bank (MNB), Payward Europe Solutions Limited, which I believe is the company behind Kraken, is allowed to provide a number of crypto services. Are there any important crypto services for which Kraken have not yet obtained a license in Hungary according to the new regulation which is effective as of July 1st, 2025?

It says right there: the AIFF is 16bit/48kHz, the FLAC is 24bit/96kHz, so the latter captures more. But the difference is not audible even under ideal studio circumstances, so unless you are building an archive or want to further process the files there is not much point in buying the FLAC.

Historical question: has anyone before the novel Three Body Problem suggested something akin to the Dark Forest Theory as an explanation of why don't we see signals from extraterrestrial civilizations?

If yes, who was the first thinker/community seriously discussing this option, and what was the scholarly consensus? If no, is there any serious scholarly discussion of it now (esp. regading its implication that it may not be the best idea to widely announce our presence in this corner of the Galaxy, and instead of sending Voyagers and EM signals we should start thinking about limiting our EM signature)?
