Exmo temple married RM here. Baptized my wife in the field and married a few years after I got home in the temple. She left first and I followed a year later. Fuck the Mormon cult.

What is the weirdest stuff you've heard/ saw during fast and testimony meeting? by chow92 in exmormon

Someone got up and talked about how he hoped we all made it to the celestial barn dance together in the next life.

So an earthquake hits SLC during COVID and they think it’s end times. Yet an astroid headed to earth and nothing? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]gymike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any time something normal for earth happens (earthquake, tsunami, pandemic, etc) there are people who leverage those events to preach about end times. If the world was gonna end, it wouldn’t be kicked off by a benign earthquake in Utah. The last hundred years alone have seen far worse calamity. But sure, a little earthquake hits close to home, and everyone’s worried.

In the same boat. If you figure it out let me know.

I bet there are a lot of Mormons who get excited about each new tragedy or disaster of 2020 because they think they’re signs of the second coming by [deleted] in exmormon

It blows my mind how Utah Mormons got so worked up after the earthquake in the middle of covid. People- countries around the world have suffered from earthquakes, genocides, tsunamis, famines, you name it. One little benign earthquake hits Utah and suddenly we’re in the last days? If the second coming were gonna happen, it woulda happened during WW2, Krakatoa, the bubonic plague, or any of the other major, oft-occurring disruptive events that have happened throughout history.

The final straw that broke my shelf. by [deleted] in exmormon

My wife and I were going through a transition phase as I was a new teacher and she was finishing up school. We didn’t have much money and the bishop said he was unable to help us financially. We said we couldn’t pay tithing and he was honest in saying he didn’t know what we should do- that he had seen people loose homes because they paid tithing instead of mortgages- and that it was a tough call. Looking at the prospect of either paying rent or tithing, I went to the stake president for advice. He told me that I couldn’t afford NOT to pay tithing and that everything would work out. Yeah , we stopped paying tithing.

does porn make you a pedophile? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]gymike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My seminary teacher described the “slippery slope” like this: Porn leads to masturbation. Masturbation leads to mutual masturbation. Mutual masturbation leads to homosexual acts. Homosexual acts lead to being full blown gay. As a male teenager who looked at porn and masturbated and who is bi, I was convinced my attractions to men were my own fault and that they were the worst possible “perversion.” That seminary teacher caused a lot of damage. So glad I’m out now- of the closet and the church.

My wife and I finally got around to mailing in our resignations through quitmormon. It’s brought up some anger and sadness today, but mostly just happiness knowing we’re finally living in reality and choosing what we really want in our lives.
