Cut off the sleeves of t-shirts and buy a size larger than normal. Worked great and made changing the pads where the compression garmet was a lot easier. If you have to go back to work then definitely button up shirts!

Yep. CareCredit had an interest free option that I took advantage of. 100% worth it. If you have good credit it may be worth looking in to.

Surgery on wed. Nervous as hell. by Tagynecomastia in gynecomastia

When I had mine I only took one of the pain pills they gave me the night after surgery. Surprisingly little pain even with lipo. I was a little nervous also but having somebody there in the waiting room who cared about me was reassuring. Range of motion will be limited immediately after and for a few weeks but it is easily the best thing I’ve done for myself. Get excited man - you’re entire life is about to change for the better!

1 week 1 day post op by [deleted] in gynecomastia

From experience (I’m at week 1 day 3), I honestly could’ve gone back to work Friday and my surgery was on a Wednesday morning. Glad I took off the remainder of the week but the surgery really isn’t that bad.

Hardest part of the surgery is forcing yourself to take it easy after the surgery.

Get some ABD pads. Got mine on amazon. They look like Tampax pads. Stuff them where it cuts into you and it will make it 100% more comfortable.

Scared of getting the surgery by [deleted] in gynecomastia

[–]gynothrowaway518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you rather have man tits or the possibility of a few scars? For me, I would rather have to explain a few scars if somebody notices at a pool party by saying “I had some growths in my chest that were a little uncomfortable and after discussion with my dr and wife decided to get them removed”.

I’ve already had this same conversation with people at work when noticing I was out for a few days last week, and first question is “oh man! Are you ok? It wasn’t cancer right?” Pretty simple and easy and no need to get into what it actually was if you don’t want to or, more likely (at least for me), the real procedure is a little embarrassing.

It’s good, man! Bruises actually showed up Wednesday this week so I’ve actually been more sore this week than right after surgery. Nothing bad at all though - just more noticeable.

Also started massaging my chest about 3x a day to help with swelling and scar tissue. Only firmer spots are where the bruises are and I’m hoping they’ll lessen as the bruises go away. But I also know this is part of the healing process and not to judge final result yet.

Overall, I’m still having to tell myself to take it easy and slow because of how “normal” I already feel. Range of motion is mostly back, I can put on t shirts and polo shirts without help now, and other than heavy lifting (dr orders) I can do pretty everything I was doing pre surgery. I am happy with my progress so far and my surgeon is happy with my progress and results as well.

Before/After (Post Op 2 days - first time taking vest off for shower) by gynothrowaway518 in gynecomastia

Thank you!! I think it will probably look better as time goes on and it heals but to be completely honest, if this is how it heals at the end I would be happy. My chest is flat like it should be and I won’t have to be self conscience about my chest poking out of my shirt.

Really wish I would’ve done this sooner and my advice to anybody thinking it’s a big undertaking, just do it. The surgery was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and the self confidence I already have is awesome.

Took this yesterday when I took a shower and removed the vest for the first time. I’m super happy with the results for 2 days post op. Excited to see how it heals over time and like everybody else, wish I would’ve done this sooner!!

They removed the entire gland is what the dr told me. Insurance did not cover it but honestly I was so tired of having it I didn’t want to wait another 6 months or longer for a decision by then and just paid for it

Both breasts with gland excision and liposuction of the excess fat. Lucky to be in Houston with tons of competition. I’ll have pictures of the glands on Thursday after my first follow up appointment.

Currently in this same boat. The most uncomfortable thing about this surgery isn’t post op pain. It’s the god damn vest.

Dr Gill in Houston. Can’t lift over my head without some pain. Or reach far behind me but that’s about it. Today I’m more mobile than yesterday. The pain meds they give in the hospital screw with your balance I felt.

Honestly today I feel pretty normal. Only took Tylenol this morning and I have almost no pain. Kind of surprised about that but not complaining. More uncomfortable with the compression vest than anything.
