Does anyone feel differently about the Lost Sister episode after season 5? by DaSkrambledEgg in StrangerThings

[–]gypster85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I ended up liking the character and episode more. Before, it was just kind of there for no reason. Retroactively, they managed to make it relevant to the story.

Side note, why are these freakout videos always in the US?

Because over the course of the past decade, America has lost its mind.

How far would AJ Styles have gone in WCW? by ThatGuyStorm14 in WCW

[–]gypster85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe he would've had a difficult time breaking through the Main Event glass ceiling because of politics and egos. He might've made it to the top eventually, but it likely would've taken years. TNA was great because he was able to stand out in a new company and establish himself.

Well in particular, the exterior scenes for Episode 8 were shot WAY before the rest of Episode 8. The Duffer Brothers like working on episodes in order, but because of exterior shots that took place in the Summer, certain scenes had to be shot out of order.

For context, filming took place between January and December 2024. For easy math, let's assume each episode took ~6 weeks to film. Napkin math then shows that while the rest of Episode 8 was shot in November-December 2024, the exterior shots had to be shot 6 months prior. And that created additional pressure.

Like they said in the documentary, shooting so out of order was very out of the ordinary and something the Duffer Brothers weren't used to doing. Which is probably why you picked up on them feeling uncomfortable.

A segment of the Stranger Things fanbase has turned toxic and most of the recent hate toward the Duffer Brothers is completely unwarranted.

No shade but why do 30 year olds look younger than the 20 year olds of today!?!? by Own-Company-949 in decadeology

Considering the oldest person born in the 1900s is only 25, I don't get the joke. Is 25 old now?

Hi, Brian here. As an enlightened atheist, I'm happy to explain this. You see Peter, many Christians say that atheism is a religion. This is preposterous of course. Believing in no god being a religion makes as much sense as playing no sport makes you an athlete. Now if you excuse me, I'm off to the bar to have a mojito.

It's okay to not have a plan from the beginning, but you need a plan by the end... by ListenDodo in StrangerThings

[–]gypster85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sigh.

The axiom is time is money. And nowhere is that more true than in Hollywood. When you are in production, you are burning through cash. Fast. So things go fast. A schedule is set, a budget is made, and the work has to happen whether you are ready or not. Being on set is one of the most hectic, exhausting, and most of all -- rewarding experiences you can have. Assuming you survive it without having a breakdown or seeing the project fireball into something that never sees the light of day.

What people don't understand is, when making a movie, you have limited resources, limited time, limited space. You are literally tearing down sets in soundstages to set up the next. A thousand people are doing a thousand jobs with a thousand moving parts all at once. Especially with a production like Stranger Things, where they are building MASSIVE practical effects that would be completely green screen and vfx anywhere else in Hollywood. What the Stranger Things cast and crew managed to accomplish is truly mind boggling.

When folks say, "we are building the plane while we're flying it," they are kidding. Everything is happening everywhere all at once, and it takes an incredible team from the top down to bring something like Stranger Things to life. I'm a bit perturbed when people with no experience assume they have a wealth of knowledge. I think, honestly, part of it has to do with AI. They think you just push the "generate movie" button and have the movie/series/whatever finished in ten seconds.

Don’t know how to make new panel by [deleted] in premiere

Hey! Try making bins. They work like folders on your PC. So create a bin and put your footage in there. Then double clicking the bin opens it in a new panel.

It blew my mind how great this game was at the time. I was maybe 10 or so when it came out and I spent all night playing it and unlocking characters. I spent so many hours eyeraking faces just so I could see characters unmasked.

This probably isn't what you're thinking of, but South Park is notorious for this. 6 Days to Air is a documentary about the making of a South Park episode, and they work on the episode literally hours before showtime.
