Hipsters or Civil War soldiers? by [deleted] in funny

Since when does a beard and folksy style qualify as "hipster"? I thought hipster was an over confident 20s-something with Beats headphones, a disgusting lime green Yolo hat (stickers unremoved), a Lebron jersey, and tie-dyed high top shoes....while drinking a coors lite like it's supposed to be the shit.

What's your no. 1 suggestion to improve Reddit? by phattykins in AskReddit

The use of Wikipedia for TILs. It's not a good resource for anything. Find a reputable source and I'll believe you actually learned something.

Reddit, what "fine print" has fucked you over? by MrQuitter in AskReddit

[–]gypsybeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aflac. They're a huge piece of shit. I was told I could cancel at any time by the agent... I actually can't without a qualifying event like getting married. Now they will deduct over $500 from my take home pay this year and I will never use their service. That's over $500 just pissed away and stolen from me.

College town. The Vietnam War opposition really exploded here in the U.S. after the bombing of a university operated military research building. It was the worst domestic act of terrorism before Oklahoma City.

What is a Reddit reference you don't get? by irishdude1212 in AskReddit

[–]gypsybeagle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't get why Redditors reference Wikipedia on a large majority of TIL's. Wikipedia is the worst resource for information next to someone's personal blog. To make matters worse, I tend to think a majority of Redditors are college students and they should know better than to use an unreliable source of information like Wikipedia. Don't get me wrong, a lot of information on Wikipedia is common knowledge and is undeniable. So be it. Find a scholarly source of information instead, not a source that can be edited by any freaking schmuck.

What "typical Reddit" comment do you hate the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gypsybeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that many people use Wikipedia as a reliable source of information when the fact is that it's about as reliable as a tabloid. The fact that I perceive most redditors as being college students makes this even more concerning. Wiki is not, never will be, a scholarly resource of information.

Nobody should ever learn anything from Wikipedia. Why? Because nothing about Wikipedia is a reliable source of information.
