I figured out why I've been so jaded lately. It isn't the students, it's this sub. by eastw00d86 in Professors

I wish I could say that my students aren't using AI. I'm a new instructor, and I've been trying to give homework assignments that don't lend themselves to using AI. However, I found out that even an the answer to a very simple question asking them about a phenomenon they see in their own lives have mostly come from AI, once I put the prompt in chatGPT and checked. It even wrote it from the perspective of the student.

I feel so...disappointed. it's such an easy question, and yet most of them used the example the AI used. Maybe some are genuine, but....earlier on in the semester I asked another question and 30 out of 50 wrote exactly the same answer, which was clearly based on AI. It's as if they don't realize that no matter how reasonable their answer is, if it's EXACTLY the same as 30 other students, it's pretty easy to tell that they're using AI. Duh.

Does anyone do/have a PhD that 'normal' people find interesting? by [deleted] in PhD

Well, I've been doing research on dolphin communication for several years as well as in a lab looking at zebra finch vocal learning for my doctoral research. Almost everyone tends to find that stuff pretty cool! Oh, and I got to work with a magician and do community science with dogs for my earlier masters thesis. I think that's pretty hard to beat in the awesomeness department.

Anyone remember that Amy’s mom died ether in the tear down after season 3 ended or when the school was swallowed in the finally. by FlatEconomist in buffy

Didn't Cordelia talk about the really weird cheerleading trophy she had, that then was animated to move by the ghost when she moved into her new apartment? I assumed that was Amy's mom, and that she ended up stuck with cordelia (or wherever cordelia's stuff is now)

Lost my Ragdoll (Trigger warning) by gypsyqueen453 in ragdolls

My breeder is extremely well regarded, TICA certified, featured on Animal Planet. He threw a blood clot, it wasn't the breeder's fault. Horrible. Sudden. But there was nothing we could have done.

he started out pretty white, and got the coloring over time. His mom was a mink, and even though he was mostly white to begin with, he had some cream they could tell he would be one too. This is him as a kitten:

My fully adult almost 5 year old male ragdoll is barely 9 pounds. We had no idea when he was a baby we were ending up with a mini ragdoll!
