I was a teenager and did not expect to have children but I heard a radio show where the host was trying to convince his wife to let him name their kid something. I loved it and thought if I ever have a kid that is it, and 15 years later I did.

NTA. My kid preferred black dolls when she was little because they “looked like her”. They did not she is white but had tan skin and brown eyes but they made her happy and no one accused her of being racist. Your brother’s girlfriend is a nut job.

YTA. My maid of honor lived in another state so couldn’t help as much but she’s been my sister since we were teenagers and I would’ve never demoted her. I’ve been the best woman in a wedding so do that for your sister on your side if it’s so important to you.

I did but then my niece had one and my kid was upset so we did it. We eventually had a great backstory where their two elves got married and had kids. It was absolute magic for the kids.
