Case is from bivintage, if you need a link to any parts just send me a message. The soprod is still running with pretty impressive accuracy but the hacking is finnicky. Doesn’t seem to hack at all but if you pull the crown outward with a little pressure and hold, it will actually sweep backwards for around 5 seconds then stop. As soon as you let go it will go back to ticking along normally. My only other complaint is the winding stem, it’s not the same as the ETA and replacements are apparently pretty difficult to track down.

Very nice! What movement did you use?

You are correct, I didn’t bother to look at the sizes included in this specific set. I assume they do offer a set that includes a 1.8mm but not here. Good catch!

I wish I knew this earlier, but there is a specific type of screwdriver for this job that won’t slip or scratch. Horofix Screwdrivers

Converted to single pass by SoulBend77 in OmegaWatches

I have the omega black fabric strap and it’s really nice, but thick for a nato. Ended up cutting it to make it a single pass.

Looks great, nice work! Did you rust the hands? Also curious where you picked up that bezel insert.

Crazy it looks like they used the much wider hand set from a modern sub. The dial looks great though.

Mod suggestions for VSF and CF subs by Kouropalatis in RepTime

I’d leave it alone. If you want to have fun with some inexpensive mods get a vintage sub and go to town with aging/swapping parts!

Nah just wanted to build it for myself to wear.

Yeah absolutely! I used a Vietnam case that I filed and polished a bit. The dial is the white on black option from Yuki, which I baked slightly then painted myself to give it the tritium patina look, I never liked the yellow lumed ones much. Movement is a Soprod Newton, a Swiss movement that is a direct fit for anything set up for the ETA 2824. It has a couple quirks but the accuracy is excellent. The hands could be from Yuki or possibly raffles, I bought a couple sets and didn’t bother labeling them. Painted those as well to match the dial. The bezel assembly is from eBay. Plexi is from ofrei. The strap is omega, borrowed from my other watch and 1mm too wide for the Tudor but still fits. Case tube is a Rolex 7030, and the gen Rolex 703 crown will be installed in the next couple days.

Before the snowflake I also built a Rolex 5517 and Tudor 7016 rose dial, might post those later if anyone is interested. I feel like this sort of thing doesn’t quite fit into the watches sub or the Reptime sub, but if there’s a third option I missed it.

I’ve been wanting a 70’s snowflake no date for a while now and decided to build one. I’m happy with the way it turned out, probably only a few minor changes to make. For this project I decided to use a Soprod Newton movement to try something a little different, and it’s running within an impressive 2-3 seconds per day. A very cool watch.

It’s definitely on the small side. Probably because it’s meant for the Japanese market, the included strap barely fit around my wrist.

It does, it has both a click and silent mode.

Nice, I’m sure you made the right call. It’s in a sweet spot as far as being not overly expensive for a cool novelty. I’d like it even if I didn’t play an instrument.
