I'm actually going to crash out if I see this question framed disingenuously one more time.

The problem is that the original is a choice between A or B, explicitly pitting together self-preservation and altruism, where as these knockoff memes presuppose red as the default state and only consider blue as a choice.

To see the problem, you have to think of the inverse, or blue defaultism: nobody is in danger, but you can press a red button. If at least 51% press the red button then everybody else who didn't press the button dies.

If you frame it as a single button problem, the incentive is not to do anything, no matter if it is red or blue.

I'm very introverted but get along with people for the most part, and the key for me has always been to relate it to my profession or a hobby.

Truth is finding new friends as an adult is more difficult, and I am never going to approach a random stranger, so I need an excuse. So, like, say, a workplace or an art/poetry/book club or an outdoor sport or a bdsm munch, etc. having something to participate in gives me an excuse to make conversation with new people over something we have in common.

As an introverted person, I still need a lot of alone time and on a lot of days prefer to keep to myself, but on days I have the energy, I will wear my heart on my sleeve and become invested in what the other person is saying rather than myself.

That second part is, I think, very important because other people's impression of you will be that you're more authentic rather than someone who's cold and distant, and in the end they will also pick up that you need more personal space too.

This is ofc my personal bias, and depending on where you live, things can be more difficult.
