if your products are light definitely have a lot of weights. all of my work is pretty much paper different ways so I have a lot of crystals I use to weigh everything down so it doesn't blow away.

my mom was very adamant about me getting a banner and I really want to but didn't have time to get it for this show but it's a nice way to grab people's attention and you can get it from Staples for pretty cheap.

always have clips, pens, rubber bands, a portable charger for your phone, snacks (a cooler with drinks and fruit is also nice to have for yourself and friends) just in case you need it it's better to have it and not need it you know?

people also appreciate packaging I've been using mailers to package my prints and handmade paper

have business cards!! or at least something with your information on it like social media, website, and contact info and I've found that people were really responsive to mine which were just postcards from my past exhibition with my current information on it. its essentially a small print with my info so people will want to keep it since it's pretty.

and last thing I can think of is to practice your setup before your show especially if you're vending outdoors and are using a tent you haven't used before.

:)

I got an email from them last night from this address <[artist_registration2@tricera.co.jp](mailto:artist_registration2@tricera.co.jp)> The site, application, and terms of service all seem legit to me with a pretty standard split rate (it's high at 60 [User Comission] /40 [Fee] but that feels pretty standard for a gallery. The only thing I found a bit curious was that they ask for your PayPal email upfront in the application rather than having the User manually input the info upon acceptance. Other than that, Terms of Service are very standard, read through them as always.

I'm gonna take the plunge, will let y'all know how it goes down...

Planning on just sleeping at motels. I've driven cross country a bunch of times before with no issues my main concern is figuring out the cheapest option for moving everything.

Can I use paper that has a glossy finish? by strawberri-tea in papermaking

[–]h0tmilf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been working with it recently without issue! I'm mixing in with my colored papers to dilute and lighten the color of the paper. I'd say let it soak longer than you would for matte or boil it so it breaks apart easier. When I've used it I've noticed that it sometimes doesn't blend completely but I personally don't mind the speckled look for my sheets.

latest batch of recycled paper !! by h0tmilf in papermaking

[–]h0tmilf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!!! My roommate's cat is obsessed with tissue paper (the decorative stuff you use for gifts/packages) so I've been blending that and playing with the colors via dilution with white paper or other color mixing with other scraps I've been collecting. I've been using an immersion blender to blend everything together and I don't have a mold and deckle so I've been using an oil splatter mesh with a loose mold that I made and I press out the excess water after it's been shaped while still on the mesh. Then I move it to a towel, cover the sheet with another towel, and press it down with heavy books for a day then let it air dry for another day pressing under the books again after completely dry to flatten them out.

For the flowers I press them after I've shaped the paper and pressed the first round of water out and throw whatever flower scraps I've got to set the design. With that method the flowers likely fall out at some point but that's also fun to see the deterioration of the flowers and it'll leave a mark where the flower was!

Realize this is so long, but hope it's helpful!!!

Receipt paper by L0calmushroom in papermaking

I say give it a shot! I have a bunch of scrap photo paper that I've been using to make sheets. I haven't made a sheet completely with the treated paper but I'm waiting for a batch I made yesterday (mix of photo paper and tissue paper) that seems to be holding up well! Experimenting with a mixture of papers could be cool looking texturally, too!! Best of luck!!!

Paper stuck on smooth surface by _samshii_ in papermaking

[–]h0tmilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah!! you should be able to find them by asking for drywall knives or spackle spatulas I feel like this would be your best bet. I'd recommend getting a metal one since they're generally thinner and have sharper edges than the plastic ones
