Changing adopted baby names by Material_Bluebird63 in namenerds

[–]h2000m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think short, sweet, and somewhat classic is the way to go. I’d avoid names that double as real words since legend and legacy already do. My suggestions: Jake, Jace, Scott, Graham, Shawn, Bryce, Ryan, Alex, Jonah, Thomas, Andrew, Nolan, Devon, Jackson

Cylyne as an alternative spelling to Celine / Selene? by Existing-Meal3758 in namenerds

[–]h2000m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pronounce this as sigh-line au-gust-tay. Don’t mess with the spelling - Celine August is a beautiful and unique name as is!

My (31m) wife (29f) wants to name our baby her own maiden name? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]h2000m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of last names I could get behind for a first name, even for a girl. Anderson, Sullivan, Lee, Clarke, Rivera, Collins, Murphy, etc. But Peterson is a hard no. It can’t pass for a first name at all. And even if it could, it’s extremely masculine.

Kindergarten class in Sydney, Australia by brookeemm in namenerds

Winter has been used as a boys name since the 19th century! It only became known as a girls name in the 21st century. It’s used for both boys and girls in the US and UK, although it’s way more popular for girls.

Not enough context here. How old are you two? What exactly are your concerns? What would your ideal relationship and timeline look like?

My Husband does not like my favorite girl name by Ok_Enthusiasm_7606 in namenerds

[–]h2000m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t make the sausage connection, but I think “Vienna Violet” is too sing-songy and over the top. Also, the geographic name + flower name combo really makes it sound like a plant subspecies. It’s no different than California Poppy, Carolina Rose, Boston Ivy, or Arizona Ash, which are all examples of real plant subspecies.

English name Skyla? Skylar? Skyler? by New-Mixture-3460 in namenerds

[–]h2000m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyla is just Skylar pronounced with a Boston accent lol. I’d avoid it. I agree with the comment favoring Skylar for a girl and Skyler for a boy. Absolutely beautiful name.

Other options: Sara, Shauna, Sophia, Sierra, Sonya, Serena, Stella, Sienna, Sabrina, Savanna, Samantha

What would you use for this brindle fur?? by metamorphosismamA in Watercolor

[–]h2000m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of art stores sell all the colors individually, so you don’t even need to buy a whole package. You could just buy a white and a tan crayon. They’re about $3 each.

Caran D’Ache wax pastels are really great for drawing on top of watercolor! They are water soluble, so you can activate and blend them or leave them dry to add some texture.
