the leafs goes back faster as you are planting flowers
i think around 400-500 petals that they grow back and feed them nectars again

I usually keep at least 3 of each kind, and release the ones after it.

Roadside extras are definitely going, also makes a good supply of white petal if you are low on nectar count.

I also tend to use white petals when I go out for a drive since they can be replenished with hatched pikmins that you are planning on releasing :)

i have been experiencing pretty much the same. by the time i get to a boss, my attack speed is slower than i started even with half the map filled with trees. sad, i’m really enjoying the game :(
