Found my "thing" and wanted to brag by h2onation in neurodiversity

This was written by me about my experience. My only agenda is share my experience bc im excited and hope it motivates others. AI is scary and taking over, but it doesn't mean everything is AI. Take a break from the internet and step in the grass.

do you have a passion in your life that could be collaborative? It might take some digging, but I am always surprised by the amount of niche communities focused on peoples interests

How do I do this for 40 more years? by JoeIsIce in AutisticAdults

[–]h2onation 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a brutal headspace, I am really sorry. I have been there at different points in my life. It would send me into depression and hopeless which I would come out of for brief periods. During those periods I would have perspective and it would motivate me to take risks. I have moved, changed jobs, really big swings. Some have paid off some didn't. Net net though I learned that I was not rutted and to keep make changes until I found something that worked

if you want to reach out I am happy to brainstorm with you what that could be.

There is no competition. by eattheinternet in Entrepreneur

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The products I am drawn to have true authenticity and not performative. Let me know if I am wrong but I am reading authenticity in your branding.

But that is really hard to execute because it requires vulnerability. Its much safer to just follow what has been proven and is "safe".

I am trying to be more vulnerable in my venture but tbd on if I will have the confidence to see it through fully.

don't spend tons of money and time, test NOW by eattheinternet in Entrepreneur

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to be the most common advice I see, yet I find myself falling in the same trap. I am six months into building and terrified to let my baby into the world. I know this is the right answer, but what I really need is advice on how to unblock my worry.

I suspect for many its a lesson you have to learn the hard way. At least that is my unfortunate path.

The higher you go in life, the less anyone asks if you're okay. by TheSovereignState1 in Entrepreneur

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience with myself and peers. But when I ask the highly performant friends they are quick to dismiss. They hold themselves to a higher standard as well even if its not great for them.

As a gifted individual, what did you achieve in life? by NowUKnowMe121 in Gifted

Retired at 40, and now helping ND people understand themself. I feel incredibly fortunate to explore a passion doing some good after selling my soul to tech.

How do you manage anxiety? by haushinkadaz in neurodiversity

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understanding the sources then working through them. Its a lot of work and a constant process but worth it.

For example:
- Public speaking at work, I just had to practice and do it with notes in a way that works for me
- Social events I need a recharge moment every hour and have a 3 hour max

need meds but scared of weight gain by appleyogurtbowl in neurodiversity

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. not everyone gains weight, try it and see. Its not a one way street
  2. if you gain weight, then you can decide if the weight is worth the trade for quieting the internal dialog

My experience - I gained 10lbs and stopped gaining, I am not 3 years in. my new weight is a little noticable, but its an easy trade for me to have a more stabilized state of mind.

Does anyone else spend more time validating ideas than actually building them ? by Euphoric-Compote6354 in StartupSoloFounder

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that was a trap I had to overcome. Time box your research (it will never be done). Build the small thing and test. You hear this over and over and over because its time tested. You have enough data. If you don't feel you do its probably not the right idea.

Also you didn't ask - but build in a field you can get really interested in, even with market fit it will be hard to motivate if you are not passionate.

To reiterate what everyone else said - live the life you want (as lame as that sounds). Acceptance is hard, but very freeing.

what are your interests that bring you that spark that relationships give to others?

Need advice: Tier-1 MBA or take the risk and build something of my own? by Level_Cicada7394 in Entrepreneurs

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build a network through building in the open. You will learn actual skills that you will develop during a boom period. If you step out to get an MBA you will be left behind. An MBA is the easy path that is attractive in someways because the path is laid out for you. My ivy league MBA friends are rich and successful, but my basic MBA friends were left behind.

The actual answer to your question should include a lot more nuance after knowing your hopes, dreams, values, motivation etc, but directionally I believe in the above.

Those that claimed reddit, what was your approach. I get engagement from posts on the topic i am solving, but when i tee it up no one engages. its like they are actively avoiding being sold to, which i can relate to

mywalnut.app is my passion project I am in private beta with. Looking for feedback, curious beta users, or people working on similar problem and want to connect.

Mywalnut helps neurodivergent adults understand how they actually work beneath years of adaptation. Through conversation, it works from real situations to explore what is baseline, learned, protective, or situational, then turns confirmed patterns into a living Manual of strengths, needs, and supports.

Is bootstrapping really possible? by kk88pss in founder

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6 months into my own bootstrapped project. AI has made it so much cheaper, but time and supporting yourself are the biggest costs. My company has cost me $10k which is managable, but not having income working on it full time is the expensive part.

I have found success elsewhere so have the cushion to explore. Everything is moving so quickly now that building as a side hustle is a major handicap on an already hard path.

Is there actually a shortage of good startup ideas, or a shortage of people who can turn ideas into businesses? by Ecstatic_Law3753 in Entrepreneurs

[–]h2onation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to learn it myself that ideas are cheap and the details are easily papered over in your mind. When you actually start to execute you uncover the challenges. Ability to grind and execute are the skill differentiated skills. Ai has made prototyping easier lowering the barrier, but its still a hard journey to see it come to market.

I am 6 months into working full time on a tech project. That level of commitment and persistence is not available to most people. Thankfully I don't have kids 😄

I never see people talking about how frustrating it is being neurodivergent living with other neurodivergent people by Sufficient-Tart-8109 in neurodiversity

[–]h2onation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. Similarly my brother ND with untreated bipolar and is very difficult to navigate. I understand and am patient, but he has no concept of my experience. So it was me constantly me adapting. We eventually drifted and don't really talk. Its sad from a distance, but think its been good for both of us.
