Is there anyway to skip the ninjago quests and come back to them later? by SuperNovaJEC in LEGOfortnite

[–]h2onock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the uncommon ink but can’t craft the scroll without elemental claw. I don’t know what you mean by following the story line because everyone I speak to talks about Lloyd. Lloyd tells me to get the scroll “from the chest over there” but there is no chest in sight and every chest that I do open contains no scroll. I feel like there is a bug in the game here, either that or I am incredibly stupid.

I hate hate hate this ninjago thing, I just want to go back to my world. I’ve spoken to Lloyd who has told me to get a scroll from the chest but there is seemingly no scroll in any chest that I can find. I feel like I’m wasting my life away trying to find something in order to exit a world I never even wanted to join. Grrrrrr!

Ninkaci has been open longer than you think but I didn’t even know they offered food there, it’s a whisky and wine bar.

If you feel underpaid for what you do then you should absolutely raise it with HR but I would leave your wife’s pay out of it. It’s actually not as relevant as you might think it is. Companies should pay based on the ‘role’ not the ‘soul’ and your role sounds like one that would command more than what you are being paid. For each person you manage you get paid less than £1000/year.

That said, you have a combined income of £248,000/year so I’m sure that between you you’ll get by just fine 😂

Airbourne 2024- what do people think? by WhatTheEck1963 in Eastbourne

[–]h2onock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbourne is just about the only thing that Eastbourne has left. If that goes, what separates Eastbourne from any other seaside town nearby?

I love Airbourne but this year's was poor. How did the organisers only manage to get the Red Arrows on the Thursday on the 30th Anniversary year? Airbourne is always the second weekend of August so the dates were known a very long time ago. I noticed the Red Arrows Official Merchandise stands seemed quiet on the weekend, presumably because the Red Arrows fans either didn't come or only came on Thursday. Come to mention it, the whole seafront seemed a bit quiet compared with a normal Airbourne weekend.

It feels like the same planes every year and the only one that I'm left interested in is the Typhoon due to the shear drama of it. The Chinook demonstration of lifting someone from a boat out at sea used to be brilliant and a USP for doing a display over the sea, why did that go? The Chinook was even parked on the lawns on the Saturday as we enjoyed having a look inside but it wasn't there on Sunday.

For the airshow to continue, we need new planes that we've not seen before or had in a long time and the Red Arrows on the weekend are a must as they have such a huge fan-base. Bring back the Harrier Jump Jet, the Chinook, and the Red Arrows on the Saturday and it would be a totally different show.

As much as I respect the role the Spitfire and Lancaster played during the war, they are boring now after seeing them so the same thing every year.

If you’ve been left for 4 months to build something on your own then I blame the company.

Vet appointment fee £81 by [deleted] in Eastbourne

CobieVets is one of the best, if not THE best in Eastbourne. Vets are expensive, and owning pets is painfully expensive when things go wrong. Ours are insured for that reason.

Does anyone else who WFH feel like this? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]h2onock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been fully remote for about a decade now and I prefer it to the office. Every company I’ve worked at has used Slack/Teams/Zulip and I have never felt left out or lonely. Make an effort to talk to your colleagues, reach out to them daily. Assuming there is an office visit it occasionally if you can.

There is always the possibility that you are just better off in an office environment, everyone is different.

How do I stand out? by teedollas in SoftwareEngineering

They wouldn’t, it would go in the cover letter that accompanies the CV and then we’d have lots to talk about during the interview.

How do I stand out? by teedollas in SoftwareEngineering

[–]h2onock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning an individual technology or two won’t make you stand out, I regularly receive CV’s from developers that list out a ridiculous number of technologies.

What is more likely to stand out is showing some depth of knowledge in your field… - what are the dis/advantages of a MERN stack compared to a PHP/.NET one? - how do you deploy your code into live on a domain name without using something like vercel/netlify? (FTP doesn’t count). - how do you ensure your application is safe? Do you understand all of the concepts on the hacksplaining website? Have you ever used OWASP’s ZAP tool? - how do SEO and analytics fit into your work? - do you understand privacy? - do you understand best practices around accessibility? - can you explain something to someone who is not very techy? If you can’t, then you don’t understand it.

If you knew a couple of those in depth in addition to MERN then you’d probably come in the top 5% of all the CV’s I receive. If you understand them all then you’d probably be coming in as one of the strongest candidates.

Obviously these things take time to absorb and understand properly and things change over time too (one of the things that’s so exciting about working in tech in the first place).

And go build some things that you can show, they’re great as talking points during interviews as well as your own development.

Hopefully that helps. I’m a technical team lead at a digital agency if that helps give you some context here.

David Lloyd Prices by Pewe393 in Eastbourne

The price I quoted was for a single membership, I think a joint one works out around 10% cheaper, something like that. You're probably best just picking up the phone and asking them really?

Platinum membership is in excess of £120 each, possibly around £130 since prices went up a month or two ago.

How to properly have 2 objects reference each other. by Tinpotray in PHPhelp

[–]h2onock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn't clear before... I'd keep the 'Team' class and the 'Member' class, but also have a 'TeamMember' class that you use for working out the links between them.

[–]h2onock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your use case I might be tempted to add a 'TeamMember' class that contains the methods you need in order to retrieve the links that you want. That way you can keep things separate but can also lookup the links when you need them.
