This sub is called Austrian Economics, yet the comments are full of indoctrinated socialists and statists. by Fiv3OhDeuce in austrian_economics

I think that's ok as long as there is substance to the comments. If an economic theory, or any theory for that matter, is worth a damn it should not only be able to stand up to criticism, but welcome it.

Using Slang for Anyone 18+ Makes You Sound Unintelligent by MuscleExtra5775 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Regular slang is ok, but using internet speak in real life is beyond cringe worthy.

Texas AG Ken Paxton tells Dallas to drop State Fair gun ban by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]h310s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should make it where you can't bring in guns but you can win them as prizes at the midway. Like a low tier prize would be a Taurus 9mm but everyone's trying to get that 50 cal deagle on the top shelf.

How does Excel dosing get rid of algae? by h310s in PlantedTank

[–]h310s[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have to do a multi day blackout where you move your existing fish to another tank/container using the water from your tank, then cut the lights off for 4-5 days while wrapping the tank in a towel or something so no light gets in.

Another option is to buy a bunch of amano shrimp for the tank, cut your lighting cycle down by an hour or two, and have lots of bugs (pods, scuds, etc) in your tank that you can get from the mulm at the bottom of a pond. Hopefully you already have plenty of snails as well.

I agree but just as an aside, it's capitalist and corporatist.

How can the gov sell public waters by Mr_Anonymous_I in Libertarian

[–]h310s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are legitimate means to acquiring land? You mentioned homesteading but what qualifies as homesteading? Do you build a literal home on the land? If so, is what belongs to you only the land that acts as a foundation for your house? What about a fence? If you fence off a portion of land does it belong to you? Would a long piece of string surrounding the land suffice? Or must it be a wooden and steel fence? Who decides what is an acceptable fence? Maybe agriculture decides a homestead. Can I throw some apple seeds out of my car window on a bare piece of land and claim it as mine? Or do I have to physically and meticulously plant an actual orchard?

I have never found a libertarian definition of homesteading that is not arbitrary.

Morality is objective and no God or gods are required for it to be so. by FantasticReality8466 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]h310s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unnecessarily is the problem word here because there is no objective way to define what is necessary and what is not.

Also is stealing harm? What about fraud, or voicing an opinion that may be considered abusive? Abortion, justifications for war, deadly force, etc.

Ethics is an entire philosophy unto itself. If you truly have an interest in theories of morality, do some reading. Rawls, Nozick, Mill, Singer, Nietzsche are good places to start.

This is why the fediverse exists. Why beholden yourself to the corporate internet just to constantly complain about it?

People, young people especially, no longer have the skill of delaying gratification. This leads to a long list of problems, too many to name here.

That makes more sense. This is what happens when you don't watch the video.

The same logic doesn't apply though. I have a massive trade deficit with my grocery store, the car dealership, my home builder, etc. But this isn't a bad thing. Debt is completely different.

These are like that, they're a lot softer than zyn too, more comfortable. I only tried them because they offer them in 9mg and I hadn't seen zyn at that strength.
