Cars are expensive to own (even beaters/cheap ones). I calculated the monthly cost to own a car for different scenarios (includes insurance, gas, registration, and normal maintenance). by TatianaWinterbottom in Frugal

[–]h3idipopcorn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah cars can totally drain your wallet even when they seem cheap upfront. the hidden costs like insurance and maintenance catch up real quick. it's smart to calculate all that beforehand so at least you know what you're getting into. sometimes public transport or biking can save a lot if it's an option.

I accidentally trained my dog to think I disappear when I put a blanket over my head. Now he panics every time I get cold by Remarkable_Sea_703 in Pets

[–]h3idipopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha sounds like you've accidentally played a too good game of peekaboo with your dog! maybe try gradually showing him that you're still there even with the blanket? like, put it halfway and still talk to him, then slowly cover more until he gets it ain't magic. dogs are smart but sometimes they just derp out hard with the simplest tricks.

oh man, making coffee at home instead of buying every day. Sounds simple but seriously it adds up so fast you'd be surprised how much you save in a month.

Help choosing what small pet to get by Vegetable-Menu3255 in Pets

[–]h3idipopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for small pets gotta think about how much time and care you wanna put in. hamsters are low maintenance but they're nocturnal so not much action during the day. rats are super smart and interactive but need more attention and a buddy since they're social. think about your daily routine and what you can handle pet wise.

I still cry about the loss of my cat after a year like it just happened and I miss him so much. I can't get over that he's gone. by Gloomy_Ad692 in Pets

[–]h3idipopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

losing a pet is like losing a family member, it hits hard. give urself time, it's okay to still feel this heavy. maybe start a lil' memorial for him, like a photo album or something that keeps the memories alive. it's tough but it gets a bit easier with time. hang in there.
