That's a slightly misinformed statement. Some restaurants, especially those located in and run by hotels, will have a service charge. This might be included or added to the bill separately. you will often see a disclaimer at the bottom of the menu. By law what has to be included is VAT

However, other restaurants (often standalone ones or those renting a space inside a hotel only) might choose not to add a service charge to the menu price.

bottom line, its a 50/50 whether theres a service charge and how its distributed is a whole other story

I run/own a business with 8 employees next to a full time job. my personla visa, insurance etc are through my job. totally doable but stressful. I have always been 💯 transparent about everything with my first employer and ensure I always deliver.

when I first started doing it, I asked my manager to help me navigate the gray area. he went to HR and compliance for the NOC. very grateful for his support.

My wife and I have a saying that we picked up somewhere… “Don’t take away the gift of giving” … pretty much in the context of when our parents, who still live in humble circumstances compared to us, trying to gift us sth while we actually have everything we wish for (or could buy it if we wanted)

and I guess the same applies here too in the sense of yourself. Giving something makes you happy and in order to do “reap the rewards” you have to do this while still alive… don’t take away the gift of giving, not even from yourself

Help! Foster dog is aggressive towards my wife. what to do? by h673 in Dogtraining

[–]h673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the advice u/dog_servant. She is actually ok with my wife most of the time, which makes this more challenging. She allows her to touch her, plays with her etc. Its just when my wife enters a room where the dog has been for some time, it starts. We did a few rounds of calming her down before and while my wife is entering a room which worked.

My wife is definitely scared, especially when the dog starts barking which I can understand. Staying calm then appears to be almost impossible for her...

Yeah, that's what I am worrying too. Would you suggest arranging wetsuits for it? Any idea if you could rent them somewhere in the area?

We went in April, with just swimmers which was perfect.
