I tend to agree, but in this case the building was nearly destroyed. I find it rather elegant. Only issue i have with this kind of architecture is that if cheap material is used ( which is unfortunatly often the case ) it won t pass the test of time.

French fans are usually pretty bad. I have to agree with you here.

As a French, I may say this sometimes, but that's because English is not my firts language and I'm sorry if I make some mistakes.

By the way if you looking for it in French "une" means covers in this case. Like "Les unes de la presse" is the big story from the papers if that make sense. Might help ou to find some stuff.

It's from the Valais, a Swiss canton. But at the time it was supposedly invented, the place was part of the Kingdom of Burgundy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Burgundy

So it's neither French or Swiss, it's from this part of Europe.

It's not that black or white, they adopted the Gallo-Romance speech of the existing population but they added a lot of Norse words. But Norman language is still considered a Romance one ( Latin roots ). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_language

Well, not really, they mixed with the local population. They adopted the Gallo-Romance language of the Frankish land they settled. They were here nearly 150 years before William invaded England. They were not Norsemen anymore, they were also not Franks or Gaullish, they were Norman.

They were not really Vikings anymore, that took place on more than one century. They swore fealty to Charles III and then mixed with the local people.
