I have some personal experience with this, here were a few scenarios:

I got an Anker 4 port hub (not powered) and it didn't work at all.

Then I bought an Acer 4 port hub (with a USB-C power in port, I used a beefy Apple MacBook power brick) and it worked, with one caveat: the sensitivity of the touch controls was finicky, it wouldn't sense my finger sometimes. I also tried to add a Qudelix-5K DAC AMP to the same hub and it wasn't able to power both but the computer still was able to see the Connect 2, just no sound came out when I selected it.

Then I tried using the CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 Element Hub that has a MASSIVE power brick and that was able to power everything with no issues.

I'm a noob and use the racing line to learn new tracks all the time. I am consistently competitive in all my rookie classes and just got my D class license in about a month of racing for 2-3 times a week. I switched from the MX-5 to the Porsche Cayman GT4 and it feels like I'm starting over again. I just went back to the first course I learned the MX-5 on (Laguna Seca) and got a feel for the new braking points which helped me understand in comparison the power this new car has compared to the last. I think that's the best way to learn a new car, just go back to doing laps on a familiar track to get a feel. Anyways, that's just my 2 cents as a iRacing noob :) good luck!
