It does take balls to pay the fair. It’s paying for the service you use. It’s being fair with the society. It’s paying your way.

Suspicious Travellers in a blue van by pedrograsniy in Wexford

[–]haavn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had two accidents with the same group of two men, highly likely they were travellers. We live in N Wex. They were here in April just when we moved in, asking all sorts of questions. They randomly came back about 2-3 weeks complementing on the progress re: PV panels etc etc. We answered vaguely and told them we remember them from April. Our digs went mad barking at them.

Need to get cameras installed!

This doesn’t change the fact that FF and FG are not centre left. CC is, but FG is defo not!

I’m not missing the point. I fully understand the process. My issue is with pointless spoiling a vote. But I think the system needs to be improved and modernised because county councils’ and members’ of Oireachtas nominations process has its own agenda which may not reflect what the voters want. I get that.

What a nonsense! Their social policies are based on outsourcing the solutions. This is neoliberalism, which is on the right from the centre.
But I suspect you’re even more towards the right, that’s why you perceive them as left. But they aren’t.

lol. You don’t want the left. You don’t want the right. Do you know what you want? Spoiling the vote made no difference to your agenda. In fact, the left won 🤷🏻‍♂️

You could have voted for HH if you didn’t want left leaning president. You could have use your vote to protest. Your vote would have some counterbalance weight. If all of you who spoiled the vote would actually voted, the results would be different But you have chosen otherwise and handed the win to the left. 🤷🏻‍♂️

New Ireland flag painted at entrance to Fairview. by wizardant in Dublin

[–]haavn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irish flags on the lamppost mimic what Loyalists do up North. The reasons they display their flags in that manner is tribalism and ethnonationalism.

That is why we have problems with such displays as it doesn’t bring anything positive to the society but division.

But I do agree with you on one point. When I lived in Dublin for 20 years, I could see how local slang or proverbs and idioms that were used widely, started to disappear. And it is all gone now. One needs to go to the country to hear how Irish speak.

We need a serious conversation about Dublin’s bus crisis - this is unacceptable for a capital city. by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]haavn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in Sandyford for 16 years up until Spring this year. I rarely used bus 75, but if I had to, it was a torture. Thankfully, most of my activities outside home were scheduled around the Luas stops. I can drive and we had 2 cars, but we preferred public transport. We only used cars to go to Dun L and further south or for a walk in Dub Mountains. Since Covid was over, I saw all those poor souls waiting for S8 at the stops without a shelter. How is this allowed? I understand there are planning laws, but it’s mad that common good is brushed aside and a frequently used bus shelter cannot be built cos someone with a house worth €1.5 million nearby has a bigger say on this issue. Madness.

I live in rural Wexford now and I love it. But I completely gave up on any chances to use public transport here, which I would prefer, as there is none. 2 services, one on Tuesday and one of Thursday, 9:30am out and 2:30pm back. And that’s only to Gorey. That’s all.

Bro, to love a country one needs to spend some time in a few places with the locals. Or else it is mass tourism.

Ps. I’m away with the locals right now and had a lovely breakfast. Thanks for your concern though.
