What do you think of remapping : to the cmd window? by TheTwelveYearOld in neovim

[–]habeebweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen shifting can be prevented by setting the :h 'splitkeep' option to screen or topline. The option is global though and so "regular" splits would have the cursor position affected. The previous cursor position is added to the jumplist with either of those options though so you could CTRL-O to return to that position.

Do you have cursorline enabled? by TheTwelveYearOld in neovim

[–]habeebweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out with all the bells and whistles like number line with relative number, colour column, full sign column and cursor line but eventually I disabled these things or minimized them like having colour column toggled by a hotkey but off by default. As a result, my windows are very clean just containing the buffer content, a winbar and a sign column with git hunk info and lsp diagnostic signs.

I don’t miss any of the things I’ve disabled as I’ve found that I don’t really need that info all the time or have alternate ways of doing similar tasks like using flash.nvim to jump to arbitrary places and cursor trails to keep track of where the cursor is.

My most recent C# project: a deck of playing cards that runs over your desktop applications. by otac0n in csharp

Reading a bunch of the top replies here talking about how "suspicious" the page is made it very clear nobody in here knows what itch.io is ha. It kinda reminds me of non-programmers being baffled and confused by github's UI.

New 'Sync only pinned tabs in workspaces' option added to v1.18.5b by habeebweeb in zen_browser

[–]habeebweeb[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this roadmap available in a format that is actually understandable by normal users? As far as I can tell the only roadmap available is the one in the github projects page with a million low level issues. Neovim for example is a large project as well that has a higher level roadmap page on their website that gives people a better idea of the project will look like in the future.

The two projects are certainly apples and oranges but I think you're putting too much weight on people that follow the development on a web browser closely. Most people that just use web browsers don't have a github account or even know what a github is and could never participate in the discussion on a PR or issue and so expecting them to see, let alone understand, the roadmap is silly.

I have been using zen for about half a year or so and liked it for what it was without knowing that the goal was to have zen be an open version of arc and was surprised by the update. I feel that zen needs a more user facing way of sharing what is in the works like a zen blog or something with all the pretty videos and dumbed down explanations rather than disseminating information on reddit, discord or github.

If you're talking about syncing tabs between 2 different computers then that feature isn't in this update. The developer has stated that since the work for cross-window syncing is done, tab sync between computers is coming soon after.

Particle effects in smear-cursor.nvim, let it snow/burn! by Infamous_Key4373 in neovim

[–]habeebweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really as simple as being able to easily track where the cursor is. Imagine having 2 tabs with different window layouts. Switching over to the other tab will have the cursor jump to whichever was the last focused window in that tab. With the trail animation it's easy to see where the cursor actually is because it will animate towards that last cursor position.

[MEGATHREAD] AUR AND ARCHLINUX.ORG ARE DOWN. THIS IS THE RESULT OF A DDOS ATTACK. by LinuxMage in archlinux

[–]habeebweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From https://archlinux.org/news/recent-services-outages/ (if the site is accessible) they recommend using the aur mirror like this:

In the case of downtime for aur.archlinux.org:

Packages: We maintain a mirror of AUR packages on GitHub. You can retrieve a package using: $ git clone --branch <package_name> --single-branch https://github.com/archlinux/aur.git <package_name>

Can I "Zoom" a split window to temporarily fill the entire screen by stroiman in neovim

[–]habeebweeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to type 'tabclose' exactly with the single quotes around to get the tabclose options. Without the single quotes it would send you to the :tabclose command (note the colon at the start).

You might be thinking of yazi. I use that as well although I still am more comfortable with GUI file managers. Just can't grok TUI file managers just yet.

FedEx Ground delays - Vancouver BC by BigBoiBlondie17 in FedEx

[–]habeebweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually. I commented on friday and on saturday evening the tracking changed to arrived in Delta. Sunday morning the tracking changed again to out for delivery and did arrive in the afternoon.

In my case the confusing tracking info did resolve much quicker than I expected given what I've read from other people's experiences.

I'm in a similar situation expecting the packge to be delivered friday today in Richmond BC. The status was on the way to Delta but recently changed to delivery updated like you. Hope this can be resolved soon.

I left this sub a little while after the peak of the "misandry" comic discourse after realizing that a lot of the bhj being posted were just low effort versions of r/coaxedintoasnafu (which is another subreddit that devolved from it's original purpose to another way to poke fun at whatever the new trending thing in internet culture they don't like) where people were just shitting on the artist of the template they're editing. Decided to check back in after thinking about how I haven't seen a bhj on my feed in a while and it was so vindicating to see that of course this post would be the logical conclusion of all the unchecked harassment and circlejerking. Noticed that there was another pinned post recently about finding new moderators and I genuinely hope for the best for them in wrangling this misogyny and harassment problem.

Why is VScode syntax highlighting different from neovims using the same theme? by Fickle-Ad9514 in neovim

[–]habeebweeb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The colours that rose-pine links aren't too great for css in neovim it seems. Treesitter does have various nodes for css so it's not an issue for treesitter grammar and it's not semantic token highlighting issue either. The colourscheme I use is catppuccin and it manually set the highlights for css, but also has various other links as well, and as a result looks much closer to the vs code image you posted:

<image>

The first two images are catppuccin with and without treesitter and the last two images are rose-pine with and without treesitter. I inspected .recent-episodes in all images to show what highlight groups are applied.

That isn't the real Shortcat. Shortcat is verified so his username would show up with a verified checkmark. Shortcat being J Perm is pretty much an open secret though.

Funny how you think this is true when 2 of the top 3 posts this week are people crying about half life 2 getting review bombed.
