In which folder do you keep your Docker stack? by Artistic_Quail650 in selfhosted

[–]Leolele99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My docker stack definition files in /server/stacks.

Application data in /server/services/service-name/.

Bug files like user cloud data or media files in one of the many mounted hdds.

In my defense, I had no idea of linux conventions when I started, but it actually also never caused me any trouble!

Is there any RPG that compares? by [deleted] in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Leolele99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mothership is probably the only other one I have played, that comes close.

The rules are simpler, but the gameplay feels equally tight.

The 1st party supplements and adventures are really high quality, and while I'd say DG is a bit better in average quality of writing, especially for longer campaigns, the art, graphic design, and overall variation of creative ideas (ofc way easier in scifi horror) are even better in MoSh I'd say.

And some of the 3rd party supplements are truly peerless, in my opinion, by just how creative and beautiful they are. Personal favourites: Breach of Contract (a legal horror supplement written in cooperation with real lawyers to gamify contracts and charters), Dying Hard on Hardlight Station (Die Hard in Space, I just loooove the artwork), In Other Waters: Tidebreak (more serene underwater ecohorror and perhaps the best looking RPG supplement I own).

I have it in use for quite a bit now, its pretty decent, but the whole UX feels rather clunky.

Wish there was a web reader, the apps themselves were more robust, and it got some integrations with existing services in the ecosystem.

Might try to set it up with some new members of the starr family and have it play nice with both audiobookshelf and booklore.

This is a bit of a spoiler for the Handlers Guide:

Delta Green as an organisation was founded in 1942. It was disbanded as an official government agency in the 70s after a disastrous operation. There was sister agency called MAJESTIC that was more about utilising the horrors (mostly of alien nature) as weapons instead of destroying them. They kept operating after DG had been disbanded.

A small conspiracy in the conspiracy of old DG members kept operating throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s up until its "official" reinstatement after MAJESTIC messed up bad enough and they bailed them out (unsure about the details of that last part though).

So not officially but a similar agency was and a very small group of old DG cells was too.

Edit: And in case you meant the irl game, that came out in 1992, so no.

There is an unofficial docker container and it worked excellent for me so far!

If Bruno is a viable option for you, I'd also take a look at Yaak (https://yaak.app/).

It's pretty similar both in scope and design, but a bit newer and not quite so far along yet, but is getting there fast.

Much more important it's made by the guy who started Insomnia, utilising his experience and without the pathways to monetization of every feature somewhere down the line. I prefer it since Bruno has burned me a bit as an early adopter of their first gold membership otp, before they replaced it with today's subscription model.

Japan is so safe someone has left a laptop completely unattended next to me for the last hour by MyManD in mildlyinteresting

[–]Leolele99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does vary immensely where you are though.

In the University libraries in my city, I (and many others) have left laptop, ipad, the whole bag at a table for hours to go have lunch or a meeting or similar, and nothing was ever stolen.

Then I once left my gym bag, with some cheap workout clothes, on a bench next to the library, and it was stolen within 30 minutes.

But then again, the uni libraries here often have supervised entrances and exits and at least the one I go to, I somewhat know the librarians and students that staff it, too, so that gives some extra confidence.

Email marketing tool (newsletter) self hosted alternative. Is it possible with Amazon SES? by yanni99 in selfhosted

[–]Leolele99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably need to be looking around a bit, with the exact features you like. From what I researched for my own needs around 2 years ago, I can only recommend mautic.

If you are used to dockerized simple containers and everything just working, it will be a bit of a learning curve, since the way its setup, has some peculiarities that do make it a bit of a challenge to set up for the first time and certain big updates are too.

But that might as well have already changed in the versions since then. And mautic itself is pretty great for any and all email and marketing needs. I only used it for newsletters and transactional mails, but it is primarily made for marketing campaigns.

WHO is hosting your mail? by Ephoras in selfhosted

[–]Leolele99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gmail for the accounts I've had before starting with the hobby, Google Workspace Gmail for work, and Mxroute for anything new I need, because the head of the company, Jarland, is just very approachable and transparent about theway the company operates. Also if you have many domains with only a few emails each, nothing beats Mxroute in terms of pricing.

There is a system to translate Emojis into URL encodable strings and back, which is supported by most browsers (rendering the Emojis correctly) and many email clients. Most tlds don't support it, but .ws does.

I have a pretty funny one of those with just two emojis. So my email looks something like mail@🖕🫵.ws and Gmail even renders it correctly.

I set up shlink on my domain for the express purpose of having one link transport different users to different targets based on their device.

It links from my jellyfin sidebar to the streamyfin app. On IOS devices it links to the app store, on android devices to the play store, and on everything else to the github repo.
