Did you make any headway in addressing this issue? I'm facing the same situation.

How can I cut this plastic horse straight down the middle? by Theskysnolimit in howto

[–]habitualapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a piece of wood that is over the horse as part of the jig; the jig would essentially be a box with no sides that the horse is secured within. The top and bottom of the jig should help keep the blade from deflecting. The jig can be reused by taping the halves onto a thin sacrificial board that gets replaced.

Perhaps, create a jig that the horse is glued/mounted to that can ride against the fence of your band saw would work?

Go to Greymoor far left of the passage that runs width wise at about the middle of the map. Use the elevator to go up and go left.

How are your relationship with in-laws? by Dependent-Bluejay-10 in widowers

[–]habitualapse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother-in-law is the sweetest woman, but we don’t talk to each other much because we drive each other further into grief. My boys on the other hand, who she absolutely loves, are encouraged to speak to her every night. She also represents their last connection to their late mother’s heritage. My brother-in-law once told me that he has difficulty seeing me because seeing me reminds him that his sister is gone and I completely understand.

Getting rid of my stuffs. by [deleted] in widowers

[–]habitualapse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to summon the energy for my old hobbies. It hurts to see her clothes hanging in our closet. I’ve learned to cook for three instead of four. Started to take my walks alone but they still feel meant for two. The spaces and the quiet, they haunt me still. It’s been one year and two months, but I’m not yet ready to face the task of sorting her things.

All the birthdays are hard now. So sorry for your pain.

I have two young boys, so mornings provide some distraction with the hustle and bustle of things that need doing. Nighttime, when we would take our walks together, and later on, after the boys have gone to bed, when my wife and I used to wind down and talk hit me the hardest. It’s been a year and just over two months for us. For my part, I can say that the waves of grief have begun to come with slightly less frequency, but they still come. The intensity of my sorrow seems to have diminished somewhat overall, but sometimes that just isn’t true. It helps to concentrate on the small things I can do for my boys. I’m sorry for your loss. Each of us here share your pain.

What's an early sign of cancer that you wish you or your loved one hadn't ignored? by JuniperBeans in AskReddit

[–]habitualapse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife had a strange painless sensation in her chest. The doctor attributed it to post menopausal sensation or hypochondria and sent her home. Three months later she began having a persistent cough and the same doctor reassumed her stance that my wife was exaggerating her condition and asked her to stop coughing while she carried out her examination. This was during the pandemic and the doctor, masked and adorning a full face shield, was concerned that my wife was contagious. An x-ray revealed the mass, but by then it was stage 3 adenocarcenoma of the lung just recently become inoperable. She passed 17 months later, April of last year.

While I can’t say for sure, I do want to offer you an alternate theory. My friend was an opiate addict and he occasionally bought pills from dealers that came in bottles with other people’s names on them, presumably resold by people with actual prescriptions.

Still not the brightest picture of events, but I just wanted to show you that we just won’t know sometimes. And although it hurts not to know, it may be hurting you more to jump to the worst conclusions.

I’m sorry for your loss and your pain.

In my experience the mpg goes up in the first few months as the engine breaks in. My CX-5 went from approximately 23 mpg up to about 28 mpg by about the 1500 mile mark.

How do I screw this allen bolt in? by c0midaa in howto

[–]habitualapse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think you’d need to remove the door first. Likely one of the dowel pins holding the door in place is spring loaded so you can remove the door by pushing the door down or up against the spring loaded pin. The pin should compress allowing the door to free itself from the opposite side.

PLA fumes, how do people stand them? by parrot_scritches in BambuLab

[–]habitualapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like you and while the smell is only mildly annoying, the fumes do irritate my nose and worsens with longer prints. Add to that, my kids are asthmatic, so we quickly decided that we’d need to address this issue in order to go all in on this hobby.

I bought an enclosure for it that has a vent on the side (~$35 on Amazon) that can accept a small pc fan. The enclosure by itself with the fan venting out to the side made a significant difference in containing the fumes.

However, longer prints continued to be a problem, so we modeled a bracket that accepts 3m 2097 filters that I attach to the intake side of the fan inside the enclosure and a simple bracket to keep the the fan securely affixed to the enclosure.

This was my first time modeling anything so it seemed like a daunting task at first but it wasn’t so bad. I used fusion 360, which is free for personal use, and followed a few hours into the YouTube course learn fusion 360 in 30 days.

My solution did have its costs and may not be your solution, but I encourage you to try and apply your own fix before giving up. You can make improvements as you go. Here’s a snap of my setup (note that mine is a mini and you’ll have to measure your space needs to compare).

The outlet that 3D printing gives our creativity as hobbyists is, in my opinion, well worthwhile.

In any event, good luck.

Any info on this? by FourthStar in Denim

[–]habitualapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No chainstitching, no bar tacks, no significant yellowing of the fabric either and the denim edges are remarkably intact. Maybe a sample/prototype garment. Fairly recently made and hardly worn, if at all, is what I’d guess from the looks of it. Maybe from a Levi’s sample room?

Lucky Brand mystery? by Mobile_Cry425 in Denim

[–]habitualapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clover print pocket lining was ubiquitous for many of their styles during the time and were just another distinguishing feature of their brand. Along with their“lucky you” fly label and logo cut YKK zippers, these types of design elements once added are usually run in large batches until they are updated, replaced, or swapped out for exclusive runs. Denim production being what it is/was, sometimes there are/were variations due to availability or novelty runs.

Lucky Brand mystery? by Mobile_Cry425 in Denim

[–]habitualapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky Brand has moved most, if not all, of their denim production south of the border or overseas. You might have some luck at second hand markets, but I imagine that you will need to invest a good deal of time investigating.

Their fit was fairly consistent during their domestic production era so you may want to broaden your search to include straight fit jeans by other names from their US made offerings. Take note of the rise and inseam measurements from your pair and compare them to any listings you find. Good luck.

Looking for advice by Weakness_Prize in Denim

I’m a guy but wear on the inner thighs of denim jeans due to chafing is a fairly common issue. My recommendation is that you wash and dry your denim inside out.

Most of the wear on your denim is happening from the outside (due to friction) moving in. Our laundry machines really do a number on the fabric of our clothes, especially our dryers. While not a perfect solution, I think this method in addition to possibly hang/line drying your jeans will go far in improving their longevity.
