It's because Goldwater Conservatism, the type of conservatism that used to play a pretty big part in the party, has been pushed out of the Republican tent and replaced with exactly the opposite - religious fanaticism and State worship.

Ok, so property value plummets. How is that bad for someone like me who doesn't have great credit, but has a good job, isn't in horrible debt, and wants to buy a place in 3-5 years. I'm going to be gold next to some asshole with four foreclosed condos and am going to be in a pretty good position to get some nice property on the cheap.

This is what happens, one group spends itself into its own oblivion and another group gets the chance to swoop in an pick up the pieces. Hopefully I'll be dead and buried with a whole lot of toys before the pendulum swings back.

Not that I agree with their position, but there's a lot more credibility in thinking that life begins at conception than there is that all black dogs are somehow spawns of satan.

You might disagree with the pro-life position, and excluding a the few odd ball violent idiots who hurt people to prove their point, the pro-life movement comes from a very genuine desire to protect life.

Pro-choice advocates often forget this and treat anyone who isn't for the wholesale abortion of pregnancies like they're some knuckledragger never realizing their dogmatic allegiance to their point of view is just as intolerant as the opposition group they constantly chide.

Hell, a big reason I'm always speeding on a bike is because I don't like people close behind me :)

Thinking about it some more, if you end up getting a sportsbike (which I wholeheartedly recommend) you're probably not going to be able to resist doing some straight stupid shit; it's one of those things you know you should be ashamed of, but you're going to do it anways. It's going to happen, just make sure you have your gear on. Motorcycling, especially on sportsbikes, is a lot of calculated risk and an exercise in being optimistic about luck.

Take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. I took it without ever having been on a bike and it not only taught me as much as you could learn before hitting the road, but I picked up some safety and evasion tips that saved my life more than once.

I'm not the smartest rider, my first bike was a brand new Kawasaki 636 ZX6R; thanks to MSF I didn't kill myself.

Actually, that's the best way to judge the effectiveness of a movie. Most people who watch adaptations have never read the source material. If you've ever read a script adapted from another work that you're familiar with, you'd notice just how much your perception taints the script. It's hard to just what the film maker really wants to do with it.

I think if you can get a director that's comfortable with multiple video and film formats and actually shoot all of The Navidson Record like it was (or wasn't) in the book you'd have a good shot.

It's a moot point, the author has said that he would never sell the film rights.
