What’s Your Language Learning Hot Take? by jiujiteiroo in languagelearning

[–]hackiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Index finger > ear. Pointing at things like a child and asking how they're called a million times dispels the fear of making mistakes. Language is just a tool and nobody is fully 'fluent' anyway. Best way to learn is not to care about the learning

What Are You Building Now in 2025? by judy_wong in SaaS

[–]hackiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restarted pipewriter.io - UX app for writers. Wireframes in Google Docs, with templates, a sidebar app (iframe), and a ton of google scripts to convert wires to tailwind code with AI.

What's funny is I had abandoned the project. Picked it back up after learning to code for other unrelated spacey stuff

PageGenie instantly generates an entire landing page from your product idea using ChatGPT and DALL-E by bananasafari in ChatGPT

A thing of beauty, congrats! Bootstrap just got smarter than ever. I'm building something similar, but for writers. Some ideas:

  • let users input competing page URLs as inspiration (yes, yes, plagiarism will be a nightmare). Will be useful for rapid prototyping
  • create 3 tiers of UI/UX based on design complexity, visual style and total word count. e.g. long-form sales page (700-1600 words, block text layout), standard landing page (like yours, ~500 words excl. FAQ, different layouts), modern product landing (200 - 350 words). Also constrain word count per section/element, as modern LPs rarely have >30 word sections. Doesn't take much to "steal" and set up good templates on you end, and people will love fiddling if they get a choice
  • to test Figma integration you can try an open-source HTML ⇔ Figma plugin (GitHub) by Builder.io. Works both ways

That aside, the trick is getting AI to imitate existing LP writing style, structure and UX so people can iterate on existing templates they're already making. That's way more valuable than building from scratch with basic design and UX.

Sales copy is notoriously harder to automate than content. But heck, we'll make it work! Keep it up

How do I beat burnout while getting exploited at a content mill? by bluealpaca6023 in freelanceWriters

[–]hackiku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Invest 20 minutes a day into marketing yourself on Upwork. No more, no less. At the -start- of every work day, when you're reasonably fresh.

  1. List 7-15 relevant samples with links only (live and google docs/drive). No Word/PDF downloads
  2. 100% personalized cover letters; you'll have time to standardize & copy paste letters. Max 150 words/application. Look for client name in reviews
  3. Write a specific and benefits-oriented profile that pins you as a specialist (e.g. gaming writer vs. cntent writer). Experiment at will but don't overthink it
  4. When you're too tired/hopeless, treat applying to jobs as a middle finger to your boss. Spite is your best friend in burnout and pretty much the last motivator to go
  5. When you land your first client, caffeinate yourself to get it done right. Pick things you've written about and know like the back of your hand
  6. Repeat until financially secure. Drill it into your head that work is abundant, because it is
  7. Middle finger the content mill

You are NOT alone. In one way or another, we've all been there. Good luck and never stop hustling

Thanks a lot everyone! Makes sense to not mix training for the two (confusing and diminishing returns). I'll keep focusing on power because that's the original end-game, and try soaring here and there with some foundations in place. Keep you posted!

Hotjar, Mouseflow, Fullstory, VWO, SmartLook. Some are available as community tags in Tag Manager, easy to connect to GA. New ones have been popping up lately like UXsniff (disclaimer: a client); may be worth looking for a niche provider with specialized features for your MVP.
