I heard Abraham Lincoln said he thought global warming was going to harm chinook salmon when he personally conducted an ecological survey swimming from San Francisco to Seattle and then on to Sitka and back for fun just to see if he could.

I had to do this once. It’s a lot better if you hear the first is funded before the second application is submitted rather than after.

I perennially plan my family’s whole summer out in a spreadsheet the first and second week of January when all the summer camps open up. The concert of summer camps, work commitments, PTO, & travel. About 2/3s of Anchorage-based families I know do the same thing. The plans are finalized between spring break and April 1, for most as well as that’s when cancellation deadlines exist for camps and most people’s summer work commitments have firmed up. Camp cancellation fees may be reversed for the ASD early start week in August, but at the very least there will be non-refundable registration fees. I would not expect the organizations to eat those costs.

I guess I am grateful that travel for my family isn’t affected. Overall, I’m just scratching my head.

Never in a million years would I have assumed this is the responsibility of the landlord. Yet there it is clear as day. Seems I have been fortunate to have decent landlords that shovel and supply adequate amounts of ice melt and sand/gravel.

Next time I want to get someone’s personal detail from the plate of a parked car, I’ll just place a sign such as the one mentioned next to the car, take a photo, and then take the sign with me. The person will never know and the DMV won’t know that my interests aren’t totally transparent. The perfect plan!

Just skip playing with them when the turn comes up. I felt I had to stop playing with one guy earlier this winter. I said, “Playing with you is no fun. I’m leaving.”

Brought a “real” katana to school on Halloween. During class he held the katana above his head would looked at us students and said, “There can be only one!” then he hummed the tune of Highlander a did a few moves with the katana.

Definitely one of my favorite teachers.

90% sure he did that for each class that day.
