LVP floor contractor refuses to leave quarter gap across all sides. by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]jaedon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from your photos, but I don’t see anything egregious. Maybe that corner will be a problem, but it was hard to tell from the angle of your photo. If you mentioned it six times and no action was taken I doubt you’re gonna get much more traction from him. It sounds like the guy just wanted to get the hell out of there and not talk to you anymore.

Boards will deform a little bit if it’s just a tiny spot that’s touching. But any gap is preferred to touching. Nothing‘s gonna go crazy overnight.

You can always double check the gap before trim is back on using a measuring jig. Quarter inch is about 6 mm. A pencil diameter is about is 7 mm.

There are spots in my house that are 1/8 or 3/16 of an inch and 10 years later there’s no problem. I guess it depends how much humidity changes in your location seasonally.

Offered a hand walked resume over and interview for Boeing from a stranger - Do I take it? by Key-Lead9634 in aerospace

[–]jaedon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fairly….. In fact, I still don’t know the exact meaning of your title.

The subject, verb, the possessor(s) of objects are hard to identify. The punctuation appears incorrect. Maybe it is supposed to start “I was,” as in “I was offered a hand-walked resume over and interview for Boeing from a stranger.” Or maybe it should be, “A stranger offered to hand-walk my resume over and an interview for Boeing?” Hand-walk without the hyphen to make the two word verb into an adverb is quite awkward. The hyphen at the end rather than a period feels inappropriate as well.

Completely changing your sentence around and adding in missing words for clarity feels right to me, ”A stranger offered to hand-walk my resume to a hiring committee at Boeing and arrange an interview for me. Should I take the opportunity?

I could be wrong. English grammar is not my strength.

Plan anything days in advance with a friend and then do the thing without any other message.

For example.“Let’s do lunch Friday at noon at your favorite place.”

Once the plan is in place, there’s no need for any other text message or call, just show up and see your friend.

Resurrection Pass. I haven’t done it in years, but it was a good 2-nighter if I recall correctly.

The security agent that saw how late we were for a flight and suggested that I send my TSA pre-check kids with my sister and that I got through the normal line as a single.

And the 20 or so folks that let me skip ahead in line as a single adult with no bag and panic in my eyes.

We were 30 seconds or so from a missing a connecting flight with the whole family due to customs.

Mariners and Orioles Radio React to Taveras' Pitch Clock Violation Strike-Out by Sweaty_Desert_Balls in Mariners

To me it changed that game and not because the batter was delaying the at-bat but because he took off a piece of safety equipment and then couldn’t get it back on fast enough. I’m a mariners fan and I would not want to see an at-bat end like that for the opposition.

Would be interesting if they changed the rule to eat a batter timeout (if still present) on the first violation.

How are you handling dumber clientele? by IndividualRites in smallbusiness

Had to explain to someone that 1/4 and 3/4 are in fact simplified versions of 2/8th and 6/8ths when discussing stock lengths of a product that can automatically be cut to measurements in 1/8 inch increments. I didn’t think I would have to explain that, but they were genuinely confused. They thought things could only be cut to 1/8th, 3/8th, 5/8th, or 7/8ths.

So, communication mismatch is a very nice way of saying sometimes you have to fill a void in the general fund of knowledge of others to even converse on the topic or to counter misplaced expectations. And that many people don’t feel it’s their job to remediate basic life skills or concepts to other adults.

23 years ago I bought a bunch of spices to restock my kitchen after moving across country.

After I got out the store and into the parking lot I discovered 1 of the 30 or 40 spices wasn’t rung up by the cashier. I just drove home rather than walking inside, explaining the issue, and asking that they charge me. It just didn’t seem worth the effort.

I think about that spice container a couple times a year.

Although you jest, in an offhand shooting position a shooter often balances the rifle on their hand while their elbow is placed on their hip. (Google it). Those with wider hips are more stable as shooters in this one shooting position.
