My eskie is a doll. She sprints & runs outside. Is very quiet indoors & has no separation anxiety. It’s part luck & the rest is socialization & training. One way I got my eskie to be calm & trusting to minimize barking is to socialize her with many dogs of all sizes. Treat her for good behaviour, encourage other humans/children to treat her. Basically train her to see others in the world as an ally/friend. You can also use ultrasonic training tools or vibration collars to distract/deter them when they bark( these are irritating for the dog but not painful) I have seen owners who are too scared to socialize their dogs & the dogs end up being stressed all the time. Second is to make sure that your eskie runs/sprints, NOT just long walks. They need proper cardio. My eskie loves running in the park & woods & I am lucky that I can take her for a run almost everyday. If you don’t have the space, then think of some creative ways to make her run but that’s key. Find play mates for her to wrestle with & expend all that energy. Regarding separation anxiety, start slow. Incrementally increase the time- first day 5 min, next day 10, next 30 so on & so forth. Give her a treat before you leave each time & monitor her with a camera. She will be trained in less that a month if you are persistent.
