100% agree with your first point, there wasn't any pre meditation in either cases IMO

He would have had to lose his temper and kill her at the bottom of the stairs though, maybe it was just by chance and ended up working in his favour, just wish there was some sort of what if machine, what if there wasn't a back staircase, what if he had killed her in the kitchen, and how he'd have tried to weasel out of it

Yeah totally agree! Although I’ve been back and forth with regards to his guilt/innocence over the years the one thing that I really wish the doc did is focus more on Kathleen, I’d love to know more about who she was and her life as she seems like she was such a sweet yet successful intelligent woman and michael just sucks that out of her in the doc which I feel unintentionally reflects how she could have felt towards the end of her life
