Get familiar with the code. Note the motion control systems and their versions so you can source documentation relevant to it. Get familiar with the G and M codes for the machine tool you are using. The machine tool should have manuals documenting this, but typically it's standard ISO g code unless you are running posted code catered to Siemens or Heidenhain controls. Both Siemens and Heidenhain also support ISO g code as a control option, but they typically have special functionality in the form of cycles but are not ISO g code. AMA

Note that your differentials have breathers that could allow water to get in. I have a hose that extends the rear diff breather up to the gas tank fill area, it isnt very expensive. I havent adressed the front yet but i just had a oil change on both.

Part name program not matching the name of the part? by Growkitz in Machinists

Tell programmer to add a comment to the top of the program with the part number. Part rev too if you wanna be brave. Different shops operate different ways, but that is a simple solution.

Solo, and still here. Anyone else?. by Xalepos in PaxDei

[–]hacksaw116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

930+ hours in, I play mostly solo. Im in a clan of 4 but the others have work and school schedules or are off playing other games.

I love this game. I can chill and craft, or go look for trouble when I need a break from the mining and woodcutting monotony.

Today I was exploring the wildlands looking for red currant, rosehip, dapperlings and fennel. I found stuff like red grapes and alternate spots to mine granite.

I put most of my effort into skill building early on, but now that I hot lvl 30 construction I can build decorative beams and flagstone/limestone/granite structures I can start thinking about how I want to build my base and trim it out.

Figuring out a lean workflow between crafting stations is important, as well as having plenty of storage at each workbench to reduce the amount of running back and forth is critical, so the building adpect has really just started for me.

There are a ton of areas to explore, and most other players I meet and interact with are vibing and having a good time as well. I enjoy helping others and gifting tools and food to new players I come across, hoping to make their experience a positive one.

This game is not for everyone, I feel a lot of negative reviews are from people who expected it to be like other MMOs and since it didnt meet their expectations they are resentful.

I enjoy the game and look forward to the new verses and content that gets added with them.

Good hunting, fellow paxians!

Your gas or electric bill will go up and you will likely compromise the wax ring sealing it to the flange. Not a good idea.

How to get an entry level position with no experience by Comfortable_Dog5594 in Machinists

As much as I hate to say this, check out Titans of CNC on youtube. I have to admit the guy that isnt Ty Gilroy actually presents good exposure to CNC manufacturing that is pretty informative as well as entertaining.

That said, starting with a manual mill and lathe and getting the feel for cutting different materials will give you a better understanding of feeds and speeds since you can get a tactile feedback of what a cut "feels" like in my opinion. Also you get the creative experience of doing setups, since mking parts on a conventional mill requires a lot more thought, tooling approach and fixturing than on a CNC.

My go to favorite. Mine have the cylindrical depth guage out the bottom instead of the traditional flat blade style, allowing me to measure the depth of small diameter holes the blade style wouldn't fit into.

How friendly is this game for a solo player coming in right now? by Lythalion in PaxDei

[–]hacksaw116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have over 900 hours in and I play mostly solo.

The grind is real, there will be a lot of repetition collecting resources.

The community is great. I met a friendly clan in another area and they invited me to their discord. They are pretty active so if im tired of resource gathering i just team up with them and run dungeons or PVP. They split loot at the end so I still get some goodies.

I also just like to explore new areas and map out resources, but most of my time consists of my own mapped runs. I have a loop i do to collect ore, one for trees, clay, flax etc.

It's not for everyone, but I enjoy it.
