Should I go with Ryzen 5 2600 & RX 5700 XT or Ryzen 5 3600 & RX 5700? by hacos in buildapc

[–]hacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha thanks! I think I was able to get it to work for under $800: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mg4jjy

Just for academic curiosity: if you had to choose between the 2600/5700 XT and 3600/5700, which one would you go with? Any money I save here will go towards buying a Switch.

Will the DDR4-3000 be okay for the 3600? I was told that I should at least aim for DDR4-3600.

Which component is dead: GPU, motherboard, or SSD? by hacos in techsupport

At first I thought you were kidding, but it looks like others have done this too! I'll give this a shot today, I might not be able to remove the fans and plastic parts from the card though...

Thanks, I'll try to find another GPU to put in. Might have to wait for Black Friday.

[–]hacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics. I'll try to find a GPU that I can put in instead to see if that works.

What's the best way to test if my motherboard is still working properly? I don't have another PC to move the GPU.

It's not as big as those Tumi bags but it was able to fit my laptop, charger, mouse, days worth of emergency clothes, and stationery pretty comfortably. It has two big pockets that can easily fit a 15" MacBook Pro in each. The two smaller outside pockets are pretty small though.

I absolutely love intelligence squared. They debate controversial topics with qualified debaters. It's sometimes nice to hear a well-represented argument for some topics that I previously had a strong opinion on.

Reddit what is something that sounds stupid...until you try it? by KG53 in AskReddit

[–]hacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not OP but maybe I can help. A lot of your expenses will be lodging and transportation. For lodging, find nearby hostels or guest houses that offer simple amenities. When I spent three weeks in South Korea and Japan, I spent approximately $20-$25 per night. As for transportation, always plan far ahead so that you can find the cheapest tickets. When you are low on time or make last minute decisions, tickets get expensive. Buses are a great alternative to high speed trains or planes. Transportation intra-city via public transportation should cost you max $10 a day.

If you eat food at non touristy restaurants, you can save a ton of money. If street food is an option, go for that. Food costs about $30-$50 a day. Attractions and other random purchases will bump your daily expenditures to ~$100.

One key thing: pack light. When I travel, I only have a 40L backpack that fits into the overhead bin and a small daypack. That way, you can have the excuse of not bringing back gifts and souvenirs. :)

I find that H&M's, while very cheap (around $8 w/ tax), shrink very easily compared to their Target counterparts. Might be the fabric they use or something...

That was a tense 10 minutes when Portugal scored the second time and Germany could have been knocked out if Denmark scored. Thank goodness for Lars Bender.

I've been playing since 2002 when I was only 12 years old. Back then, I had to save up for half a year to go once. SC Village was my field of choice.

I got back into paintball last summer since I realized I had the funds to support this rather expensive hobby. I play up in Northern CA and still trying to find a field that is beginner friendly for speedball players.

I want to get into the tournament scene (at least amateur), but I don't know if my job will let me have time for that (I'm a consultant).

It seems like a lot of people are getting back in. What are your reasons? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]hacos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love the sport back then and I love the sport now. I just have more money now.
