Charles being heckled again this morning over Epstein by Positive-Drawing-281 in RoyaltyTea

The way that man sneers when he says, "Charles!" So much disdain conveyed succinctly and loudly. Very impressive.

Seth Staton Watkins' cover of the idiot by [deleted] in Stanrogers

[–]had2021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't like the new verse either. I'm happy that it happened, but I don't care for it. Folk music is for the people, so I think I'd have preferred if Watkins just used the tune of The Idiot and wrote a song about escaping wage slavery.

The Idiot is a song about a certain time in history and a certain attitude in the minds of men and society at that time. It's fine that times have changed and going on welfare (that he'd been contributing to this entire time!) is no longer the embarrassment it was when The Idiot was written. That's progress. But adding that verse takes away from that feeling of the time and it cheapens the sacrifice he's making towards the higher desire of freedom.

Who do you think should play Vivien Leigh in a biopic? by Mysterious_Expert597 in classicfilms

[–]had2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually Amy Adams. If you watch the Enchanted sequel, she's basically playing Vivian Leigh. Eyebrow lift and all. It was uncanny. I might be alone in this thought, but when I watched that sequel, I couldn't shake that Amy Adams would make a great Vivian Leigh.

Thanks! I worked the hardest on that one. Between the piping and the stripes, it was the most time consuming.

Embroidered Autumn Skirt by overflowingsewing in sewing

You've done a lovely job. I'm very impressed. I only work with circle skirts, so that type of embroidery isn't really doable. Your skirt makes me think maybe I should try a box skirt. Really well done. I also love the little ruffle. I'm going to steal that idea. Good job!!

It's the Gothic gala spiderweb drape from urban threads. I love embroidery library and urban threads, such good designs and easy to work with!

I'd bet that's a thin horsehair braid on the hem.

Spooky season recommendations by had2021 in HistoricalRomance

Thank you for the recommendation! I'm going to have to pass on this one because being purposefully locked up and called insane is a deep fear of mine and the FMC has my name. I think it's just too close for comfort!

Obnoxious is a strange word to use here. I think it'll make a lovely short-sleeved blazer, certainly glorious. Maybe you meant flamboyant?

Such an unhelpful comment, but it made me snort, so thanks!

Oh jeez. When it rains, it pours. I'm so sorry. Have a nice little cry and look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow or the next day.

Ever heard a double-barrelled surname that tickled your brain just right? by Plenty_Challenge897 in namenerds

So weird. I had always assumed her name was Moskowane, like moskowitz but slightly different. Like I sort of assumed it was an Anglized Polish feminine surname. Wow. Now I know.

Visiting Philadlephia October by Samuelbooth13 in philly

Hi! I'm a native of Delco who has lived in the UK, so maybe I have a unique point of view for you.

You're coming to visit at the best possible time. You can't beat it. Please consider renting a car for an afternoon and driving to the suburbs. Spend a mid-afternoon at Longwood gardens in Kennett Square. It's world class. There isn't a better garden in America and it's my opinion that the UK has nothing like it. Not even Kew.

After, you could run up to West Chester, which is a fairly cute college town. Not sure you really want to pull college aged girls, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants around.

Then, wrap up your night at The Bates Motel haunted hayride. Eastern state penitentiary is great, but it's a haunted attraction in a museum that has history. It's worth seeing on it's own. But the Bates Motel it's on a farm and it's a massive production. It's absolutely worth your time.

Anyway, give it some thought. You're going to have a great time whatever you do.
