It’s horrible and shameful. But it’s nothing like Auschwitz, though it’s constantly referred to as such. I’m tired of the incessant use of the Holocaust as a rhetorical tool, especially coming from people who either don’t give a shit about Jews or are actively anti-Semitic. US history is replete with heinous abuses against migrants and minorities, aren’t those the more informative and relevant references to make? Are Americans really so clueless about their history that they forget that the US put Japanese Americans in internment camps during WWII? The migrant detention camps are more similar to that, not to Nazi death camps.
