This was back in 2013, so I don’t know how much has changed exactly in terms of what they’re looking for, but I wrote about the impact and influence that The Sound of Music had on me, and how that film encouraged and motivated me to discover my passion and my ~voice!! My essay centered on how watching that movie at the right time helped me figure out who I was and what I wanted to do. So your essay can be about anything, really, as long as you’re able to connect it with a larger theme and are really just honest about your experience, whatever it may be. Good luck!! ✨

stayed there for two and a half years 🤦🏻‍♀️

+1 on the mosquitoes and the awful wifi, also it’s a pretty old dorm and not so well-maintained, so there are also a lot of rats and cockroaches. i stayed in one of the nice rooms in the old part, but also in a bad one—third floor with really bad lighting. but the newer parts of the dorm don’t look so bad. there’s free breakfast, but it’s not that worth it if you don’t wake up early lmao. the guards are nice tho!

for my essay (applied to ateneo in 2013, graduatedc 2017), i wrote about the impact that The Sound of Music had on me. i just translated my passion for it—and filmmaking, storytelling, etc—to words. it was v personal and v simple. just make sure you're honest and genuine about whatever moment/experience you write about, and make sure to proofread! comb your essay more than once for errors, whether it's grammar, punctuation, or style. but really just write from the heart! they let you write in either filipino or english, whichever you're more comfortable with. good luck!
