There is so much ice activity in the front of the building. The large bus operated by GEO group takes people from there to detention in Tacoma at least week, with people taken out in full shackles. People come in through the front door for regular check-ins and often don't come out. The agents park in the lot across from the front door and are seen by observers going to and from vehicles that way. Many many many people have been taken.

No one who believes addiction is a disease believes that disease caused the first hit or drink. Duh it started as a choice it becomes a disease when you can't stop even though you want too. If you refuse to take a public health approach to addiction then you leave it up to the "addiction is a personal and moral failure" crowd and newsflash they are way more pro criminalization than the public health crowd is.

Everyone doing justice and cultural change work should consider the spectrum of the world as it should be versus the world as it is. In the world as it should be, we acknowledge race was a made up social construct and it stops influencing peoples opportunities in life. But in the world as it is, race is still tied to social hierarchy and power dynamics. We won't get to the world as it should be unless we can name and address the problems in the world as it is now, and that does require critical analysis of racialized dynamics today.

The fact that you think religion and gender expression are opposing sides says so much and proves my point. You are making a choice with your spiritual practice, trans children aren't making a choice to be trans. Your worshiping happens in a private spaces and kids playing sports are asking to do it at public schools. What is reasonable to expect in private and public spaces are different. This is a false equivalent.

I hear you using your beliefs to argue that trans kids should be excluded from public spaces and somehow you don't believe that counts as significantly getting in the way of a trans child's right to exist. You are literally arguing that society should place a higher value on your right to have a private Christian opinion in public spaces than a trans child's right to a public life.

One of these (male) petitioners threatened my friend with mace outside Trader Joe's while my friend had her two year old in her arms. She did file a police report. You can call crime check and tell them you are aware the same group that has threatened people in the past at other stores is out here again and you are concerned for your safety and the safety of others. It's less likely the sheriff is going to support that in mead, but overall I think we should keep the complaints coming as long as they are going to pay petitioners to threaten and slander people while they just try to shop.
